connecting playbar to Mac as speaker

I am hoping that I can send signal to my Playbar, which not configured to a TV or any other device.  That is, I want you use the Playbar as my speakers for my Mac Mini (mid 2023, M2 chip) running Sonoma 14.2.1

I have succeeded in using SONOS 2 app in my iPhone to stream audio content using my WiFi.  I have connected the Playbar to the computer both by USB-C to optical, and HDMI to optical, but my computer is not finding the soundbar as an output device in System Settings > Sound.

The playbar just plays what you send it, getting your Mac to send it is a question probably better ask in a Mac forum.

You could test the Playbar by feeding the optical of a known working device, CD, DVD or the like.

Try: Behringer UCA202 - it worked for my Ray and Mac and my friend uses it for his speakers with mac so it will work for sure, just another huge dongle for the laptop unfortunately.
