Connecting an Era 300 to a desktop

Hello,

I bought an Era 300 for my office intending to connect my desktop using Bluetooth. When connected it works great. However, waking up the computer and getting the Era to play sound is a nightmare every day.

Sometimes it will start if I start an app like YouTube TV. It will never start if my first app is Teams in meeting. Sometimes it won't start unless I reboot the machine. I have had to completely reset the bluetooth connection.

I am ordering a line in cable in hopes this will resolve this issue, but this connector looks super short. What cable do I need to buy from my desktop -> connector to reach the computer?

Thank you,

-Rebecca

The line-in adaptor is just that, and has a 3.5mm jack socket. So, you’ll need a stereo cable with 3.5mm jack plug at one end, and whatever your computer needs (probably the same) at the other.

Make sure you get the Sonos adaptor.

And you will experience a 75Ms delay, as with all analog connections to Sonos.

Bluetooth on the Era 300 is pretty flaky for wake-from-sleep, especially on Windows — that behavior is common. Using line-in will be much more reliable.

You just need a 3.5mm to USB-C audio cable (or 3.5mm to 3.5mm plus Sonos line-in adapter) in whatever length you want — any standard aux cable works.
