I have the exact same problem: I have a Play:5 Gen 1, on S1, and multiple other devices on S2. I can no longer use the S1 iOS app for the reasons described above. The S2 app is fine with my S2 gear.
Fortunately I have my own apps, which are totally happy with both systems.
@Sorenbuk
What is the current status of your Play1 and Connect? Factory reset?
Are you sure the Play1 is on S1 firmware? Maybe it’s on S2 and you have to run the downgrade to S1.
Are you sure your Connect is a 1Gen? If so, it would just be S1 ready and the S1 app should find it (if in factory feset status). Otherwise check your Connects serial number. The first four numbers show production year and month. If it’s 2015 or newer it’s also S2 ready and you may have to downgrade its firmware too.
@controlav
I‘m using S1 and S2 system at home on the same wifi. S1 and S2 app both on latest version on the same iOS device. S1 app just would behave like described above, if all S1 devices are turned off and S1 app just finds the S2 system.
@Sorenbuk
I recommend to reset S1 app and reconnect just with your S1 system or set it up as a new system.
I suppose in the past by mistake you connected the S1 app to your S2 system. So the app „knows“ that system and finds it though it shouldn’t.

Ahah this was the clue I needed. I looked at “About My system” in the S1 app and it only listed my S2 devices. Weird, I thought. Then I used my own app and it could not see my S1 device either. Went over to it and discovered my CAT5 plug was loose (I moved things around yesterday), so pushed it in.
Went back to S1 app, did “reset this app”, ran it again, “connect to existing system”, pressed the button, and its all back again.
So @Sorenbuk go look at About My System in the S1 app (under More Options) and see if your S1 devices are showing.
Thanks for input.
When I cabel from Sonos1 to router, there is no problem. Then both Sonos1, Sonos5 and Connect is connecting til my app. . .
But when i disconnect - my cable, it loses connection to S1 App.

Seems the S1 system doesn’t know or doesn’t find your routers wifi. If using lan connection with at least one Sonos device you will use the SonosNet wifi instead.
Did you add the router wifi to your Sonos system via Sonos app? Does it use 2,4 GHz with a fixed channel?
Sounds like your system is running into compatibility issues between S1 and S2 products. Since your Sonos Connect (Gen 1) and Sonos One (Gen 1) require the S1 app, but your Arc and Sub Mini are S2-only, the app is likely pushing you toward S2. Unfortunately, Sonos doesn’t allow mixing S1 and S2 devices in the same system.
To use your Sonos Connect with your Sonos One (Gen 1), you’ll need to separate your S1 devices into their own system by downgrading the Connect and Sonos One to S1 (if they aren’t already). However, this means they won’t work with your Arc and Sub Mini.
If you want everything in one system, you’d have to upgrade all devices to S2, but the Connect Gen 1 isn’t compatible with S2.
It’s a frustrating setup, but the best option depends on whether you prioritize keeping your turntable setup or your newer S2 devices together. Let me know if you need help deciding!

All Ones are compatible with S2.

Which Sonos iOS app are you the author of?
If you click on his name, and look at his details, it’s pretty evident. Sonos tends not to allow ‘advertising’ here, due to terms and conditions, so @controlav is fairly circumspect. But he has knowledge about internal workings based on his code efforts.
