Question

Switch back to old version of app

Hi,

I installed the new app yesterday and I hate it.

Many options I use a lot have disappeared.

Can I somehow install the previous version of the app?

Same here. I hate the new app.

1. Can't search my music library.

2. Alexa stopped connecting. Sonos voice dreadful.

3. Old app was miles better.  Can we go back please?

Any new version should be user friendly and should not disturb existing favourites and playlists, instead it should give option to organise/ arrange them properly.

I’m unable to run the Android version on my ACER Chromebook.  A look at comments for the Sonos app under Google Play store shows I am not alone.  Many having the same issue.  This only started with the latest release (May 5, 2024 I believe).  Never had this before either with S1 or S2.  I’m able to download it just fine but it will crash a moment after I try to open it.

The Android version works fine on my Android phone but it does not look like a new and improved version.  Lots of negative comments on the latest version.

Hey all,

I agree on the confusion, but it appears all may not be lost. I found the new app on my phone to be useless. Won’t let me reauthorize Apple Music to play from that service even though I can listen to Apple Music just fine (but not on my Sonos system). I found no way to add a local source. totally frustrating and no way to go back to the prior IOS version. And then there’s the annoying and useless message “something went wrong, try again…”.

My system… Playbar, connect Amps in 3 rooms, and I have 2TB of music on a NAS drive that I had mapped as a local music source. Tons of live music and old albums I digitized, so no way to get those from a web source. So I was as pissed as anyone here.

BUT… there is hope. I went back to my Mac, and version S2 16.1 was still on it, not auto-updated. I tried to locate library and started to play something (live Dead show). Suddenly, magically, the source started to appear on my phone, and I have access to my local library. But not all of it… no idea why some folders work and others don’t. Why can’t I add more local folder sources from the app?

SONOS… if you are listening. You need to fix indexing and add search of local content drives. (Could simply leverage the iTunes xml library, right?) In my case a Synology NAS drive. Synology can function as a music server, so why can’t we add that as a music service?  By the way, pinning my music folder as a favorite does not work.

Don’t release buggy software and piss off all your customers… something Microsoft learned, oh about a quarter century ago…

Agree!   It’s terrible.  Keeps dropping speakers.   Want previous version back
