Today we are introducing the most extensive app redesign ever, creating an unprecedented streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 services on one customizable Home screen.
Home Screen
The new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. As a leader in sound experience that’s focused on creating a better way to listen, Sonos intentionally redesigned the app on a modern software platform for an easier, faster and better experience that can support more rapid innovation.
The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app.
100+ streaming services, one Home screen
The redesigned Sonos app prioritizes a listening experience that’s human - allowing you to bring your true favorites front and center and giving you more control to make your streaming experience your own.
Get into your music (and off the app) faster: No need to tap between tabs —the new Home screen serves up all your favorite content and controls, all in one place. Quickly jump back into your recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your preferred services, and fill your home with music and all the sounds you love.
Customize and curate: Enjoy unparalleled curation by designing your Home screen to reflect how you listen. Pin rows of your favorite content and services; then move, edit, or rearrange them to your liking.
Search every streaming library: Look for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all your preferred streaming apps at once via an easy-to-use search bar that’s always available right on your Home screen.
Elevated system control: Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to seamlessly control your entire system and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of your products, quickly group speakers, and dial in on the perfect volume from anywhere in the app.
Accessible from any modern web browser, a brand new web app allows listeners the same seamless system control as the mobile app.
The new Web App
The Web App will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app on May 7, 2024.

I have read the very scant and lame responses from SONOS about fixing this mess, but I never see mention of the problem of missing playlists. I have about 40 playlists and only 4 appear in the new app (they are still present in the old desktop app and some iOS devices that I fortunately did not update).
I’ve tried to follow this entire thread and several others, and have seen many people having missing playlists so I know I’m not alone - but none of the “coming soon” notes from SONOS ever mention missing playlists, and I haven’t seen any user discussion about any solutions.
Have I missed any discussions/responses/solutions to missing playlists with the new app?
RE-POSTING: This says it best in IMHO.
Thank you Sonos-Remerson for your posting in another part of the forum:
My feedback… from reading all about this, rather than actually using it. So take it with whatever pinch of salt you like.
I have a (large) S1 system and was close to “modernising” it - buying 2 pairs of Fives and an Arc theatre system. After hearing all the problems and the occasional whimper of “it’s not that bad” - not anymore.
Now, I just don’t want the hassle of going anywhere near this new app. S1 is good because Sonos won’t mess with it. S1 kit is cheap and works and won’t get broken on a whim. I know where all the bodies are buried with it. Ironically, the mishandling of S1 vs S2 _the last time it happened_ has now paid a pretty good dividend. So, thanks for that. You’re not all bad and it shows good decisions can be made when people try.
But - fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me.
One of your competitors got my sale on the theatre system. I wouldn’t have an S2 system now if it was free. Because life’s too short for me to waste my time fixing all the mess Sonos made with it. Or worrying that tomorrow when I try to use it, something that worked yesterday doesn’t today. A new system, potentially having hours of hair pulling, forum posts, resets, router changes, prayers etc. etc. Why bother? Who wants that hassle? Plug in another soundbar and it works. Plug an old S1 Connect into it and - hey presto. Plus it won’t get hosed later with a firmware update.
Yes, I’m overly sensitive perhaps compared to other people but I’d rather be listening to my kit than fiddling with it trying to make it work. Especially when it worked just fine yesterday.
Or - worse - explaining to a 4 year old why she cannot listen to Frozen for bedtime. Or woke up to it still playing in the morning… at 4am. Please try that.
I am truly sad for Sonos. I loved your kit (past tense). It’s like a form of organisational self-harm going on.
Sonos competing in home theatre was great - but unlike multi-room audio where Sonos completely dominated, there are a lot of other very good (dare I say, better?) products out there. Consumers have a choice.
I work in technology and despite others moaning here that “it’ll take a month to fix queues!” or something, I know the reality is that the “most important” features (via the telemetry collected) get prioritized and done (usually slower than the promises management make vs reality) while the rest of the shrapnel falls by the wayside once the stink has died down in a few months and is forgotten. That’s just how it works. So I am 100% confident that many broken things on the new app will never be fixed or addressed. It is what it is here and now today - that’s what I base my decisions on, not promises.
I hope Sonos keeps selling products - I really do. They’ve got great hardware (when it works). But Sonos are not going to be selling them to me. Sonos was the peak of good and convenient audio - there isn’t anyone else really the same or like them (I don’t count Bluesound, sorry). Now there is just, well, nobody and I have to make-do with a patchwork quilt of old bits and bobs.
I suspect there were a lot of people (e.g. me) who got 1-2 Sonos speakers, liked them and then went on to build out a full-home system over time. Sonos was really attractive for that. Now, not only are those users abandoned/screwed over but maybe Sonos hopes their new app will attract new users who will start buying 1-2 Sonos speakers/headphones, like them and…
Thanks and good luck to you all - it’s the end of an era and relationship for me

Thank you Sonos-Remerson for your post!
For my household we’re into over $10k for our “whole-home-audio-system” we regret NOT staying with S1. Spence may try to play-down this debacle in the latest Verge (softball) interview, but long-term customers (especially who read/post here), know this is the biggest F/U to date and it all goes right to the top! Friends, family, associates, are all up-in-arms that Sonos LIED, then tried to downplay the negative impact, has awful customer service (60-90min + wait times) and still maintains an arrogant ‘let them eat cake’ posture! This burn will last until they clean out the c-suite and hire leaders who don’t ruin companies (Blackberry anyone?).
The arrogance of Sonos towards their customers is something completely incomprehensible.
Just fired up the new Sonos app at my lake house for the first time (my primary residence is still S1). Grabbed a glass of wine, about to cook, tried my 15-year habit of tossing a couple of Top Tracks collections from Spotify into the queue … and …
Add to Queue, Play Now, Play Next … all gone! What’s up SONOS?
I vaguely saw that these features would come back in a future release on iOS. But this is like CORE functionality for SONOS products, and what sets them apart. How do you do user acceptance testing and skip these critical capabilities?
Can we get a development roadmap with at least indicative timelines on recovering features from the prior app?
Could not believe what happened to my system was real—surely they idiotically buried the local music somewhere a couple of clicks deep? It’s got to still be there, right???
But nope.—I spent the last hour skimming this 1000+ strong thread and that ridiculous interview w/ the CEO. It’s true. My local library is gone, as far as Sonos is concerned, and I can’t find a way to bring it back (even on the desktop app). It sees the last albums I played from my local library, but nothing else. I hope someone can tell me I’m missing something obvious.
THIS IS LITERALLY WHY I BOUGHT INTO THE SONOS SYSTEM.
Any old-timers remember when you bought an amp, plugged in your speakers, ipod, CD player, turntable, cassette player, etc., and PUT ON SOME MUSIC? I’m going back to my same ol’ used to be. Gimme wires, glorious wires…
“We have the most passionate customers...” Fuck you, Spence
Today Winner is….
Since yesterday it has been impossible to connect to Deezer, only the search results work, but no access to music and services.
Obviously with the old S1 combined with the old Play5 (gen1) from the same devices and the same network everything works perfectly.
Fai una cosa e ne sbagli due.
Why doesn’t everybody take a breath and hold off until the app is released before panicking?
This didn’t age well. The naysayers were 100% correct and quite prescient--this app update is the single worst move Sonos has ever made, and unless they undo it completely, it could potentially be the end of the company.
I just want to congratulate you for letting designers\developers who never used Sonos before completely ruin my Sonos ecosystem.
Amazingly bold move.
Since I first bought a ZP100 in 2005? What blew me away about Sonos was the queue. The library was mostly local then, but as streaming came to be, the queue still did everything it could do with local files. i moved to streaming completely 10 years ago, mostly Spotify, but the ability to mix in Apple has been handy, and the queue never cared. Spotify Top Tracks for each artist is a great way to dump 10 or 20 songs into the queue and shuffle, throw in another artist or two, and bam, all night music list.
Sitting around a Firepit passing the controller (in the old days) and the phone today, asking each person to dump their favorite song from high school into the queue without showing anyone.
A playlist is providing mellow dinner music but someone recalls a concert they went to, and throw in an REM song as a Play Next to everyone’s delight.
The queue management functions (add, play now, play next) need to be high on the recovery list.
The queue management functions (add, play now, play next) need to be high on the recovery list.
Queue functions are slated to be fixed in early June.
Priorities
No Recently Played, No Playlists - BUT got the ad for Sonos Ace. Certainly shows what is important to Sonos Execs.
I just want my old playlist from my NAS to work again, took me weeks to sort it and feel demoralised.
I can live with updates just as I have friends round for dinner and all the other quirks that detract from the overall experience.
But! the latest app update leaves me speechless.
NAS playlist. still on favourites but when I view and try to play it it just skips the current playlist from Spotify track for track. something seriously wrong.
10 second delay when skipping tracks?
there are more but I've waisted enough time on this post already
sort new update ASAP
Pleeeease

Can we add quick EQ settings back on the volume slider?
Just received mail from sonos
We love listening - especially to our customers. If you have a minute, we'd love to hear about your Sonos experience.
Enjoyed telling them - well it was a chance to let off some of the steam that has built up since new app release.
Nice to know they value customer input - not much evidence of that recently. Have a good weekend!
The new Web App.
WHY?
JUST WHY??
How about fixing the Controller apps first, rather than waste programming resources on a new project which, as a long-term user, I can see no reason for.
Please, just GIVE US OUR BASIC FUNCTIONALITY BACK!

Came to see if anyone had posted about the adverts on the home screen in the app. It’s like rubbing salt in wound, I can’t believe how tone deaf a move it is. I’ve been an advocate for them for years but I hate the company now.
WTF. Sonos user since the beginning. Now with this new IOS app, I can’t access any of my local playlists? Seriously. No work around … no ability to roll back the app to an older app that allows me to play my many playlists and search my vast local library for a song or an album. You’ve got to be kidding me.
This completely sucks hind teat, Sonos. This can not stand. If so, I will be ditching your damn equipment and go back to playing LPs … all of which are scanned into the system … but no longer useable.
I join the many posters here that feel you Sonos folks have to be crazy as loons to think something like this will stand.

As a dad to a 2 year old kid, I wonder what competitor you are choosing?
I'm in desperate need of something that is working. I need a system that is future proof and that can handle a simple song queue.
/A Sonos customer since 2012 heading to sell my entire system.
Ps. If anyone is interested in one complete Arc system with one port and three Sonos one in Sweden or the Nordic countries, please give me a ping. I can sell for a really good package price if Sonos don't come up with a solution really soon.

I’m so disappointed in this update. What has happened to the add to queue feature? And the ability to manage the queue? Please can you fix this asap.
Hi team,
im hoping Sonos product team, engineering and executive team are in a war room. The number of features not built into this new app is ridiculous I have four devices in our house a number are in bedrooms. The sleep timer is a great example of a staple feature completely forgotten. Something has gone wrong in the company for such a poor role out.
Priorities
No Recently Played, No Playlists - BUT got the ad for Sonos Ace. Certainly shows what is important to Sonos Execs.
You forgot the add for Roam 2
Reaction of the app to increasing of lowering the sound volume or even stopping music is so incredibly, amazingly and irritatingly SLOW that I expect to hear the sound of a 1980s modem any time I try to use it.
Sonos has managed to mess up even the simplest, most basic function of the app. Incredible…
