Today we are introducing the most extensive app redesign ever, creating an unprecedented streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 services on one customizable Home screen.
Home Screen
The new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. As a leader in sound experience that’s focused on creating a better way to listen, Sonos intentionally redesigned the app on a modern software platform for an easier, faster and better experience that can support more rapid innovation.
The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app.
100+ streaming services, one Home screen
The redesigned Sonos app prioritizes a listening experience that’s human - allowing you to bring your true favorites front and center and giving you more control to make your streaming experience your own.
Get into your music (and off the app) faster: No need to tap between tabs —the new Home screen serves up all your favorite content and controls, all in one place. Quickly jump back into your recently played, browse libraries and recommendations from your preferred services, and fill your home with music and all the sounds you love.
Customize and curate: Enjoy unparalleled curation by designing your Home screen to reflect how you listen. Pin rows of your favorite content and services; then move, edit, or rearrange them to your liking.
Search every streaming library: Look for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all your preferred streaming apps at once via an easy-to-use search bar that’s always available right on your Home screen.
Elevated system control: Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to seamlessly control your entire system and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of your products, quickly group speakers, and dial in on the perfect volume from anywhere in the app.
Accessible from any modern web browser, a brand new web app allows listeners the same seamless system control as the mobile app.
The new Web App
The Web App will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app on May 7, 2024.

Scrolling through all this: I don’t have ANYTHING working anymore? I can’t access my sysem, can’t reconnect despite trying everything so left for two days with a couple of very expensive dustcatchers in the house? What’s going on Sonos?
Heidthomas,
if you’ve read the threads, you’ll see that there were a number of changes which have affected some people more than others. If you use a local Library, then one of the older types of connection to it, is no longer supported. If you can describe your issue, someone may be able to advise how to resolve
This sucks.
For me, the volume controls dont work anymore.
And most of the time the app states that nothing is currently playing, while it is actually playing :(
My system just disappears.
I never had any issues but now the following happens (through my fog of anger):
nothings works, I unplug everything, reset the router, reconnect the speakers, it recognises the new speakers….for about 3 minutes when first my Eras disappear and then my Kitchen speakers disappear and it says “Not Connected” in the top left of the app?
I have now gone through this twice, enough to get the steam coming out of my ears..
Sounds like the issue is connectivity to the Sonos cloud server. Check the type of encryption your router is using I’m on WPA2/wPA3 Personal. And temporarily turn off any firewalls, that may be blocking

Do yourself a favour, go back to the old app, it works unlike this new pile of crap,
just google “Sonos 16.1 APK Pure.

I would but I am on IOS...I tried going back to the old S1 controller but the latest version does not even allow you to “downgrade” the product to S1 so it can be used?!?!? Has Sonos been taken over by some disgruntled employees that are trying to run the company into the ground? If so: well done, boys and girls!. Keep it up for a couple of more weeks like this and Sonos will be finished!
What a sh*t show..

Thanks. But out of curiosity: why could the encryption be different now as the only thing that is different is that I upgraded the app? I pay a premium for products such as Sonos so I don’t have to think about firewall settings as that is not exactly my area of expertise, if I have to start tinkering about with that I might as well go for the cheaper solutions out there. I will have a look, appreciate your help!
I may be wrong, and encryption/firewalls aren’t the issue but. I think that ‘under the covers’, this app moves to more cloud-based services, so perhaps its now doing something it didn’t do before.. Once the shouting stops, someone may explain more.
Second thought, try triggering Registration. It’s quirkily triggered by ‘transfer Ownership’ to yourself….
Settings ( Cog), ‘manage’ and then choose Transfer ownership. Log in and transfer to the same userid, It fixed others issues in setting up new speakers

Tried this. Nope, no luck. I give up for today. Infuriating.
I don’t know if that was discussed before, but I just discovered, that there’s actually individual volume sliders for each participant in a group. When the now playing screen is ducked down, a pop-up with all the sliders appears, when not touching the slider-dot, but touching next to it on the line or the symbols at the end of the line. So only by increasing or decreasing the volume by 1% you see those individual sliders.
This works only when the now playing screen is ducked down. Neither does it work when the now playing screen is maxed nor in the overview of all rooms.
I was kinda happy to see this. So there is potential.
It just has to be added for the slider-dot, too. And also for the other areas.
Loudspeakers (even “wireless”/ multiroom) should provide us joy by playing music. Not making customers headaches and costing lifetime.
As experienced Program Manager & Software Engineer myself, I had to experience a lot of truly horrifying software releases during the last decades. I mean, really, really bad implementations like Windows Vista, Volkswagen Golf 8 Infotainment, introduction of 1&1 5G Mobile network in Germany etc., to name just a few …
But what you did, Sonos, is unequaled indeed. Making otherwise neat hardware - in our case assets under management in value of thousands and thousands of EUR - worthless with a single release of your not even proof of concept and far away from pre-alpha state pile of crap app, respectively forcing us to deal with it.
What I have to reproach myself for is having recommended you to family & friends back in the days we trusted you.
You leave us no other choice but to dump - I have to repeat - otherwise neat hardware in value of thousands and thousands of EUR in front of our HiFi dealer and ask for disposal.
Will replace with sth like Bluesound, Heos, B&W ...
I just hope that the Sonos employees that gave the go for the new Sonos app version has been fired.
My employer would fire me for much less than that. 😊
Just unbelievable that Sonos stay silent like nothing wrong happened.
I fear Sonos plans to implement a monthly licensing fee, and needs the new software platform to do so. Why else be so aggressive in pushing the updates, and refuse to allow customers to revert to the prior software? I hope that’s not the case, but for some reason Sonos is clearly willing to alienate its customers. Their desire to “create a new revenue stream” could easily be that reason. If so, I’ll dump their products and switch to bluetooth, chromecast, bluesound, Wiim, apple airplay, or any other of a number of products that don’t require monthly payments. And join the class actions against Sonos that are sure to follow.
What's the problem here its better than ever I see people in the video smiling and laughing...I bet they did not update and turned off auto update . Like I did . I watched Peter Pee on you tube, and I looked at other reviews . did not update . and will probably not ever update again. I like the way my arc,sub3, and ones work right now on 16.1.1. with my Sony 900E ,Apple TV 4K and ezcoo splitter that gives me earc for an old tv that rocks and lossless Atmos with my Sony 4k blu ray player, have to switch input manually from atv to blu ray with remote that comes with splitter but Atmos galore.Sonos sounds great after true play even with my setup being corner tv/soundbar with ceiling fan and textured ceiling but if devices stop responding and can't retune or connect?why oh why Sonos would you release a bigger turkey than the breaking the sub a year or so ago?
Wow. Just crap. I fall asleep nightly using the timer. Gone until the “next release”. Tried to sync the volume on 3 speakers I pressed the down volume until all three were at 0. Then one click at a time I brought the volume up. Two of three speakers kept the same volume level … #3 was left behind. Was there no QA? Yeah I did not bother to read previous posts and I’m sure what I’m complaining about was already said but ... good. You people need to vet these changes. Maybe invite real customers to check it out before you shoot yourself in the foot again. Is there any way to back out this version?

“Turn off your firewall” - this is terrible advice. Might as well leave your front door and cars unlocked too.
Sure - it might validate that Sonos doesn’t work through a firewall, but turning it off isn’t the solution. Fixing the App is the solution.
None of the user desired or requested features as far as I can tell.
None of the previously existing features either as far as anyone can tell. I can’t even edit or create a queue. WTF?
I would honeslty just an actual apology to be issued, rather than defend an iterative application that was not ready for release. For a system that is reliant on an application and also connecting to a network, it’s an outrageous failure that WiFi networki information wasn’t a priority feature in this release. If I could offload this system and get some money back without feeling guilty for saddling someone else with a product line managed by executives more concerned with a new product release than existing customers, I would absolutely switch to another brand. Poor form, Sonos.

What a wreck! My Boost is not connecting. Can’t find how to tell what version of the app I have. Half my system won’t connect. Wish I had never updated. Learned my lesson not to trust SONOS.

There doesn't seem to be an inbox anymore that I can see so the CEO can't message everyone but a public statement of some kind is in order and the board should be driving it. They have a duty.
Can I ask …. what’s wrong for the new Sonos apps??
Widget disappear… I cannot control on my mobile page.
sleep mode ...the useful sleep timer GONE
why the search engine ….. now so complicate ??!
use for more than 7 years…. now feel so SAD, Disappointed and nervous when focusing on the App….!!!!! .😣😰😑
