Sorry, but it was always in Sonos hands, and many people underlined that months ago, talking about the potential solutions, like @Raguu (4 months ago) in the post I published:

Now everybody is happy with the solution developed by Sonos using the ways enabled by the mobile manufacturers, but 4 months ago it was something out of the Sonos hands 🤷🏽‍♂️. I don’t think so.

So you agree, nobody ever said it was impossible?  As to it being out of Sonos’ hands, I’ll defer to you about the timing issue.  If I (and others) were misinformed about that, then mea culpa (but we still never said it was “impossible”).

Agree but, for me, a Sonos feature request that should be solved by Google or Apple, is more or less the same than “impossible”.

And yet, here it is. Whether that was due to Sonos users lobbying at Google, we'll never know.  But the advice given here certainly didn't hurt.

This time the rollout was quick in my case. Everything works as intended, now I have again the control widget on the lock screen and in the notification panel on Android 16
