Hello everyone!

Yesterday we deployed an update on iOS and Android for the Sonos App and also an update to our firmware (Player). Have a quick look at what's changed below. If you are interested to know what has changed over the last few months, check out our App Release Notes here, as well as our System (Player) Release Notes here.

Once again, this will be a Phased Rollout. You might have the update ready and waiting for you within the App store or you will need to be patient until it becomes available to you.

In the App update:

iOS - 80.34.37

Android - 80.34.40

Additional music library settings for Android

Albums can now be grouped by Compilations or Album Artist (or left ungrouped), and folders can be sorted by Song Name, Song Number, or File Name.

In the Player update:

New Firmware version - 92.0-71170

Fixes:

  • Issues with sharing Mac Music library
    • Resolved an issue with indexing shared music libraries.
  • SVC bug fixes that improve overall player/app response times
  • Fixed issue with modern devices and large SMB share

Feel free to share your feedback, it is much appreciated as always!

Mike H

Note: There is also an S1 update that should be available. This is another one of those performance and reliability updates with no new features. Just giving a heads up so you aren’t surprised!

Hi,

This update broke my parameters for the local source connected with the USB-C port. It brokes especially the source’s level. I cannot change it anymore.

I’m using iOS version

I’ve the feeling that SVC is not working better, but the opposite.
Could be also that my English is getting worst…

Android user for day-today use of system … with:

Five

2x One SL & mini-Sub

Move

Kit has not been augmented since May 2024 and the new app introduction. Have recently updated my tvs but not even considered a sound bar from Sonos or Era products simply because of what I have read in past two years and not likely to do so.

Everything works as before. Responsiveness still good on paid services and local library.

Still no album thumbnails on queue view (disappeared about 3 updates ago) and no banners for hd/hi-res played from local library.

Hi everyone.

Long time reader, first time poster. I have continuously used Sonos equipment since 2012 but since I had been on the S1 app only until a couple of months ago, I had had no real issues. Now I am on the S2 app and here we go…

The release notes say:

Android - 80.34.40

Additional music library settings for Android

Albums can now be grouped by Compilations or Album Artist (or left ungrouped), and folders can be sorted by Song Name, Song Number, or File Name”

I have updated my Android app, it now has this exact version number but these options are nowhere to be found? Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Yes I am, update deployed overnight for me (UK) and I came here to post exactly what you have.

It may be that the feature is not toggled on yet but I cant find it in the app either...

Exactly, the latest version allows the new features but these will be rolled out at a latter(or sooner) date.

Or the user could have something on their device blocking the feature from showing, which has been confirmed by some users with previous updates.

Yeah assumed it was a toggle and just a question of patience, @Mr. T - hopefully 🤓

OK, I’ll wait and see if it ever appears in my app.

I’m getting my updates enabled late, a week after the firmware release isn’t unusual.

Yeah, its just annoying/misleading that the app itself will update to the new version, as you say usually after the firmware, but the but posited features are not turned on in the app until some indeterminate time after that... 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have an arc ultra  and sub hooked up and additionally I'd like to utilize ceiling speakers as surround. Can I just add an amp(Sonos) and control everything thru the app?

Not sure what this has to do with the December Update? Might have been better to start a new topic.

You can Bond an Amp to your Arc Ultra and use it to power your speakers. It becomes part of the Home Theater Room so it integrates with the other components. You can tweak settings on it under the Room menu.

Yes you can. Follow the instructions in the link:

@Mike R. H. Still not seeing any options in app or desktop controller for indexing preferences but this is somewhat academic as my previously indexed folders are now reporting that the path is no longer available.

It is and all pre-indexed music plays fine, just cant re-index. Tried re-adding a folder but unfortunately removing a folder makes it impossible to re-add. The adding process itself (path/user/password) works fine, indexing then reports no-longer available...

Have permission requirements changed with this release? I use a dedicated user on my NAS shares for Sonos. This has worked perfectly for many years until this recent release...
