Introducing Sub Mini

Hi all,

Today we announce the Sub Mini, the wireless subwoofer that sets a new standard in its category for powerful, balanced bass.

Available in matte black and white, Sub Mini will be available globally starting October 6.

Sonos Sub Mini

Small but Mighty: Sub Mini Boosts Bass Across Movies, Music, Gaming and More

Bass without the Buzzkill: Dual custom woofers and advanced processing generate deep, dynamic low end with no buzz or rattle, helping you feel more immersed in every scene and song. Within the acoustically sealed cabinet, both woofers face inward to create a force-canceling effect that neutralizes distortion.

Balanced Sound: Advanced digital signal processing maximizes bass response and reproduces the full-toned low frequencies expected from a much larger subwoofer, allowing paired speakers like Beam, Ray, One, or One SL to focus on more mid-range and high frequencies for a richer, more powerful sound experience all around.

Pairs Well With…: Drum up the drama in every movie scene by pairing Beam or Ray with Sub Mini, or drop it even lower on your at-home dance floor by making Sub Mini your Sonos One’s plus one.

Looking Great at Every Angle: Unlike other subwoofers, Sub Mini features a round design that allows it to blend naturally into your home aesthetic without taking too much space (or attention).

Seamless Set-Up: Add Sub Mini to your Sonos system in just a few taps on the Sonos app, mixing and matching with different Sonos speakers to create your perfect sound system, whether you’re hosting a housewarming party or movie night with friends. You can also fine tune Sub Mini’s sound with Trueplay, which detects and adapts the speaker’s sound for reflections off of walls and furniture, giving you the best listening experience for your room and setup.

Sonos Sub Mini

Building on the award-winning design of Sub, Sub Mini delivers rich, clear low end in a more compact, cylindrical design.

Sub Mini will be available globally starting October 6 2022 for $429USD, £429, €499, $699AUD. For more information, please visit Sonos.com

Very nice.   Coming in $70 cheaper than I anticipated.  I’m a little surprised that this can’t be used in pairs, but looks like Sonos really wants to focus this on smaller rooms, rather than cause debate on whether 1 sub or 2 minis are better for a larger room.

Exciting to see this product release!!!

Now can you please release a Software Version that fixes the Sub we already use?

Thanks!

Considering I bought sub 3 for 649£ brand new , I would have set the price at around 369£ for the sub mini beacuse as it is now 429£ I would still buy the sub 3 to future proof my setup instead gooing a "budget route" and regret later.

And most importantly I wouldn't announced it before they fix the problem with our subs anyway... It's been way too long and everyone is sick and tired of waiting...

Come on Sonos.…

Frustrated.... Sorry for rant ;)

Does the Mini Sub pair with the Playbar?

I think the idea isn’t so much going budget or expensive route, but getting the sub that fits best for the particular room.   I get your point though.  Does it make sense to the Sub Mini, because it’s what you can afford now, when you’ll eventually want the full sub?  I think it does if you can migrate the Mini to another room later on.

I had a voucher to use up, so pre-order for Sub-Mini placed. (I plan to use it in the main bedroom with beam/surrounds)… thanks Sonos.👍

According to the FAQ on www.Sonos.com, yes, the Sub Mini will pair with an amplified, non-portable Sonos product using the Sonos app. Learn more here.

Hi @KNASH

Thanks for your interest!

Sub Mini is compatible with all amplified non-portable Sonos S2 speakers, as well as Sonos Amp. So yes, as long as said Playbar is on S2, and there’s no existing Sub bonded already, Sub Mini can be bonded to it.

Edit: Too slow again - @Airgetlam beat me to it

I don’t think you would get a new Sub (gen 3) for that price these days. I thought the same as @melvimbe in this thread, that the sub-mini might have been around the $/£500 mark, so it was cheaper than I expected, plus I had a voucher that I needed to use - so have ended up really happy.

Can’t wait to hear how it will sound with our Beam/Ones. It’s like Christmas has come early.🎄

You can buy them everywhere for this price ☺️

That's why I wouldn't consider mini personally now. Maybe if on sale or refurbished ...

That doesn't change that they haven't fix the problems with the sound of sub and true play bug ... And for Sonos staff to like only fanboys reply is just shameful... Seriously... Fix our systems first then say that Christmas came early...

The Sub gen3 must be discounted for the Xmas/Holiday season then, as the last time I looked it was around the £/$749 price point... but I do have that Sub already and I personally consider it a little bit too much for our main bedroom - whereas I’m thinking the Sub-Mini will just be ideal/perfect-size with the Beam/surrounds in our bedroom and I have a nice corner in that room where I think it will fit perfect.

Now wouldn’t it be nice to listen to the Sub Mini and Apple Music from my Android device using the S2 Application, oh wait, I forgot we can’t get Apple authorized on Android devices still… Such a Pity!

What did Apple say when you complained about this over there?  Because the last time it happened, it was a release from Apple that ultimately fixed it.

Hey folks,

Let’s get this topic back on track, there are plenty of topics you can discuss updates or Android/Apple in :slightly_smiling_face:

Will this work with the S1 app.

Looks nice. I will await Peter Pee’s reviews on it. I have the normal one in the lounge with my Beam G2 which is great. I also have a stereo pair of Fives in the lounge which I would consider pairing this with although some say the Fives may not benefit much from being paired with the mini sub. My other HT set ups are in the bedrooms but I’m not sure I can justify paying this much just for more bass while watching TV in bed.

According to the FAQ posted on www.Sonos.com:

Can I use the Sonos S1 Controller app with Sub Mini?

Sub Mini requires the latest generation of the Sonos app (Sonos S2). Learn more here.

My comment has been removed because I pointed out that sub us not working and Sonos have to get it back on track ... Seriously... What next ? Ban ? Lol

Freedom of speech Sonos... I didn't insult anyone or said anything wrong , just fix the sub... You have to remove 90% of comments then from 14.12 software update...

Shame as I wanted one for my summerhouse to use with my Sonos connect amp.

If this is how moderators treat their customers that spends thousands of £$ on their products and just remove all the comments they don't like then I honestly want to throw all my Sonos products through my window... Sonos what did you expect ?! Realease new product but don't fix the problem for two months ... It would end if we had any respond from you or update on it ... Instead we get bullying and comments removed...

Seems pretty clear that it was removed for being off topic for this thread, not because you weren’t allowed to speak about it on the forums at all.

Why won’t this work with Playbase?
Is PB old architecture?

I love my PB but it seems to have been dropped like a stone.

I believe it will so long as you have the playbase on the S2 app

Hi @CurryTruck,

Sub Mini will work with Playbase, but it’s not a recommended pairing as Playbase was designed for larger rooms and contains its own subwoofer internally.

Sub Mini is designed to be bonded with smaller products in smaller spaces so it may end up overpowered by a larger home theater product, such as Arc or Playbase.

For what it’s worth, I also love my Playbase so you’re not alone here 🙂

While reviews are valuable, I think the best way to determine if the Sub Mini ads value is to try it out in the various room(s) where you’re considering it.  I think I’ll be ordering just one for now, possible a 2nd one later on depending on what I think of it.
