Overall, I'm happy with this portable speaker. It's mainly kept in my bedroom, though I also take it to the kitchen or to another room when I'm working. It's also come with me to several parties, where we've enjoyed it until the battery ran out, which, as you can imagine, is nowhere near the advertised 24 hours. However, I have to say it performed admirably.
At maximum volume almost constantly, it died after 7 hours. It's true that I had TruePlay enabled; perhaps without it, it would have lasted a bit longer. With occasional daily use, it lasts more than a week. It's much better with the "battery saver" setting enabled; this way, it only activates when you press the power button. Otherwise, many times when I used the Sonos app with the Arc in the living room, the speaker would turn on and stay on. Although some people might prefer this behavior, or others might keep it plugged into the charger all the time. I usually keep mine unplugged.
From the first time I used it, I was pleasantly surprised by its sound, especially the bass, which is quite rich. Its weight (3 kg) is considerable, but it's easy to carry around.
Main PROS:
- Powerful, crisp, and well-defined sound
- Can be placed anywhere
- Quite well-protected, seems very robust
- Can be integrated with the Sonos ecosystem and play content simultaneously in other rooms
Main CONS:
- The white color gets dirty easily
- You can't adjust, equalize, or check the remaining battery life outside the home. The new app only works if you're connected to your home Wi-Fi.
- Ongoing problems with AirPlay. Initially, it wouldn't connect unless you restarted the Move. Now it does, but with a lot of interference in some rooms, which I haven't yet determined is due to the speaker, the Wi-Fi signal, the phone, or some other external factor (I doubt it).
- After starting to play sound, the volume increases sharply after thirty or sixty seconds.
In summary: an excellent option if you want a quality sound source that's easily portable to other locations.
I suppose the ability to use Alexa or other assistants is really appreciated, but not in my case, as I’m still refusing to have something listening to me constantly.
