Any idea how I can remove it, I tried factory reset but it just shows as “Powered off” now? Surely it can’t be this difficult.

The ability to hide a device has returned to the app, at least on iOS.

If you click on the Powered Off device under Settings, then again on the device under Products, you should then see the option to Hide.

Not difficult at all.  You simply wait.  Eventually the app will remove it, after a sufficient enough time to know it is removed and not just turned off.

And if you want to remove it from your ‘system’ on www.sonos.com (a completely different list than what shows up on your controller, or router), then it needs to be registered to a new owner. The easiest way to do this is to factory reset it before selling/giving it away, that forces the new ‘owner’ into setting it upon their own account, removing it from yours.

To not depend on the new owner, reset and re-register it to a throw-away email address then reset it again before selling.

It is broken so I am disposing of it.
