Connecting a Bluetooth Turntable to Roam2

I am trying to connect my Audio Technica AT-LP60XBT turntable via bluetooth to my Sonos Roam2 (which works fine) but when I try to group it with my ARC sytem or my Play1 the bluetooth connection between the turntable and Roam2 seems to disconnect, even though the BT blue light still shows it is connection. Prior to grouping the Roam2 with either the ARC or Play1, the BT connection is working and the Roam2 is playing the audio from the turntable. Am I doing something wrong to get the turntable signal to come through the Roam2 to get to the ARC and Play1 (grouping all speakers together) or is this something that the Sonos 2 app cannot do?

No, the Roam gen 2 is designed for this to function. You may need to call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

If I were to guess, the Roam may be on a different firmware version than your Arc, or PLAY:1. Check inside the controller for updates, both to the controller itself, as well as the individual speakers. Fortunately, it’s just one check in the controller, you don’t need to do multiples. Your Roam, PLAY:1 and Arc should all be on the same Sonos OS, as well. I suspect you’re running S2, but if any of them are running S1, they won’t group with those on S2.

You shouldn’t be having an issue on grouping them. It should ‘just work’. If you’re still having issues, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, Sonos’ lawyers get sensitive about GDPR, I suspect.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

Also note that grouping is order-dependent. Make sure the other speakers are added to the Roam once the Bluetooth link is established. There’s rooms being added to the group should then play the source that the group “master” is already playing.

Does it mattter that my ARC system is comprised of the ARC soundbar, the sub-woofer and 2 SL’s for the back surround speakers. The Play1 is in my office, and the ARC system is in my family room. The Roam2 shows up as a room of its own. The Roam2 is new and was the last speaker added to the S2 app.

No. Rooms can be grouped, regardless of speaker configuration in the rooms.
If you start streaming a radio station to the Roam and then group in the other rooms, what happens?

I just confirmed that if I stream Sirius from the S2 app it will play on all speakes or any combination of grouping, including the Roam2.

Is it possible that the Roam2 can’t receive the BT signal from the turntable and also send that signal to the other Sonos components via Wi-Fi simultaneously?

Thanks for the guidance from both Airgetlam and nik9669a.

I was able to get the group working.

I first set up a group called turntable and included all my Sonos speakers/systems in the group.

When using the turntable, I first power on the Roam2 so it is connected to the wi-fi without the BT being connected to the turntable. I then power up the turntable and then last is connecting the Roam2 BT to the turntable BT. By following that sequence I had sound from all Sonos speakers. I also  then took one speaker out at a time and made sure the rest still had sound and then added that speaker  back.

I’ll try again tomorrow and see if I get the same result.

Thanks
