I am trying to add this brand new Move 2 to my existing system. The setup fails saying to try again later. The speaker appears in my system but says “Move 2 is not registered”.
I’ve been at this for hours.

Looks like many people are having the same problems I’m having. And I’m looking to invest a lot of money into two home theater systems with new Sonos equipment. I’m having significant second thoughts. Everything was working before now. Now nothing is working. I’ve spent hours trying.
sonos must fix this to all users. I’m ready to throw my existing system into the garbage.
I finally got it working. I reset the move, remove and reinstalled the app. Tried again and it failed to add to my account. Went into the app, account settings, app preferences, reset app. Went through the set up process again and it finally added the move to my account. All working so far.
After reset app and login again… I can register the Move 2. thank you for sharing tips.
Same issue here, just took delivery of my move 2 and it's essentially a brick. I'll probably be sending it back.
EDIT : Finally managed it. Removed move 2 from cradle and sat it next to my arc and 1 foot from the router. Cleared app data and cache from android system, failed first time, 5 sec reset on move, tried again and it worked.
Seems it needs high bandwidth to do the update but I do think the app has issues if it fails when trying to update, the first time around I didn't get the web interface to sign into sonos. My router could see it, no IP conflicts, phone had ok signal from original room but not 100%.
I have enjoyed my older Sonos systems. The sound is great. But old or new the system is just unstable. What is frustrating is that Sonos is acting like there’s nothing wrong with their equipment or software and blame the network, the router, etc. I suspect the new version of the app may be part of the problem. Maybe if they get back enough equipment from unhappy customers, they will finally pay attention to what seems to be a widespread problem.

Yep there is definitely an issue with the app.
this has not been answered with a solution, only an explanation. this is extremely unhelpful considering we can’t un-update an app. please only mark something as answered if there’s something we can do about it.
the sonos bot is extraordinarily unhelpful, and it keeps saying there are “representatives available” to help, but they are not. fresh out the box and this speaker might as well be a $500 doorstop for how useless it is.

Deleting and reinstalling the app worked for me, thank you

I tried that and it did not help. SONOS ARE YOU SEEING THESE POSTS???

Are you in the UK, one issue I found is that it was trying to log in on the US. Delete the app cache and data, press on hold the rest button for 5 seconds until it beeps. Move out right next to you router and try again
Same issue. Move 2 cannot be added to my account. Really ridiculous
Useless product and creates so much frustration. Will return product
Thanks everyone for contributing ideas. But this issue should not be marked as answered. I’ve tried all of the above suggestions. None work. And the back door trick of using the old app no longer works either. Please keep posting solutions for those who have not had any luck with app resets, app deletes, factory resets, etc.
Got it to work after
Got it to work after
This is the best starting point. I would also add to delete app data and the cache in step 1.
Same issue, signed out of app, signed back in , then the move2 registered fine
Similar problem here. Noted that if I reset the app when it runs for the “first time” it says I have 2 systems in my account. My move 2 is alone and the rest of my products are linked together. If I connect to the system with move it works fine but I can’t use the rest of my house! All I want to do is get them as the same system but so far no solution found after hours of reading the posts and trying to reinstall it. I did finally get my sub to link to the rest of my home theatre after a week though. Praying for a new software update that fixes this! As the rest of the posters, really disappointed with sonos!
I’ve been having the same issue as everyone above. I downloaded the new app, and then when I went to go setup my Move 2 it wouldn’t register at the last stage. I factory reset it, what ended up working was uninstalling the app, reinstalling it, and when I went to go register it, it asked me to either listen to the chime or input the 8 numbers on the back, I chose the 8 numbers and within 2 seconds it was added to my system. Very odd but can say it works now. Wish you all the best!
Similar problem here. I deleted the app, re-installed it and with some patience I finally could register the Move 2 to the system. Anyway, unbelievable, that Sonos is not able to fix the problem on short notice.

This fixed it for me while using the new app!!!!! Thank you! I didn’t have to reset the move or remove/reinstall the app. I just did the last party of what you said and went into account settings and reset the app and then clicked add move 2 to my account and it connected finally. Thank you!

Exactly same issue… very boring
Same issue here. Every “upgrade” is a major downgrade in quality and ease of use. Come on Sonos. You MUST do better!
I got it to work by just going into the app settings and resetting the app. It then tells you to close and re open the app. After that it registered first try
Recently had a wifi issue at home. Ended up rebooting my routers and ethernet switch. My sonos system then was divided into 2 systems (4 pieces in one, 3 in the other). For the first time my move 2 was listed in the same system as my sound bar and actually worked as it should. Problem was my surround speakers and subwoofer were in the other system so I was able to use my backyard speaker at the cost of having sonos work inside. I one by one started to factory reset the “missing” equipment to reinstall it into the system with the move2. After a couple of speakers were done the move 2 disappeared from the system and is by itself again so I am back to square 1. At least my den surround is working as it should but move 2 is now just an overpriced bluetooth speaker!
Just purchased Move 2 and I’m having similar issues. Waiting on hold for 65 minutes. Will return product. New app is a joke.
Just finished adding a Move 1st gen to my system using the new app.
had to power down the Move a number of times and restart the app a number of times.
came up with “not registered” issue. Completely Powering move off and on again and running through the wizard worked for me.
finally got it added and then tried to stero pair with another move 1st gen. Got not compatible error.
restarted both app and Move and was then able to pair.
probably completly powered the move off and on about 5 times to get it finally working and registered and added to my account…
not a pleasant experience.
I deleted my app and reinstalled it. Then entered the pin instead of using the microphone and it worked!
