Hoi there,

Have been using Arc Ultra + Sub 4 + 2x Era 300 aka Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra for over a year now and been quite happy with the system overall. Sure there has been SW glitches here and there, but no deal breakers, and the sound is great.

But the issue I got , is that the Sonos Android app installed with my Samsung S8+ tablet forgets all the Arc Ultra’s settings (speaker lvls, Speed Enchantment, TruePlay) multiple times a week. Not a deal breaker, but it grows tedious after a while for sure.

I was thinking that this might be due to  the schedule I’ve set the system to cut off power with a separate timer for night time, but got the same timer thing with my living room Sonos Beam+Sub Mini for years, and it has never lost its settings to date. Wondering if anybody else has experienced the same, and if there’s a fix for it? I am dead sure there was a question like this in the forumsalready , but could not find it just now. Thanks!

The app doesn't store any of that it is all in the speakers.

The power down isn't normal  usage and may be part of the issue. Saving such a tiny amount of power isn't going g to make much difference..

Wait for it to happen, submit a diagnostic and call Sonos.

Thx Stanley for the response, the timer thing is a habit from the past when got more older AV and computer equipment that did not have such great power saving features when they were off. I’ll test the Sonos system having power on all the time for few days and see how it goes. 👍🏻

It’s sounds strange to me. I don’t power off every day my similar setup, but I did for a weekend I was out and what I noticed is that when you turn on, it takes a long time to be ready. During these minutes I couldn’t play anything and I thought something was wrong. Perhaps if you give the system few minutes to wake up…

There is a fairly long delay, first for the internal Linux computer to boot up, then for the Sonos firmware to make the needed local and remote connections. Add to that time if the local Sonos 5 gHz Sub/Surround net needs initialized.

Much debate about thermal stress and device failure cost versus power savings too.

Some folks also see what appears to be IP address issues on power-up or reboot. Easily solved with reserved/static addresses but a real aggravation for some if that isn't done.

I do have some of my Sonos powered down, a bit for power saving but also to reduce the clutter in the controller app. The ones not powered are rarely used, most see power to pick up updates more often than to actually used. I had more rarely used ones powered down until the spouse evicted them for taking up space and collecting dust, the kids are happy with them so I'm not too unhappy.

So it’s been 4 days since deactivating the electricity timer and while it’s too early to say for sure, I have a feeling that it helped to decrease the likelihood of setting resets with the Sonos App. Now it did not remove it completely for me, but improved the situation somewhat.

After couple days of keeping the system ON constantly I assigned permanent IP addresses, per Stanley’s tip, for all SonoZP devices with my LAN, and afterwards the settings have stayed unchanged  for 2 days straight with the Sonos Android app. Need to monitor the situation for a bit longer to say for sure, but so far things look good. 👍🏻
