Trueplay sweeps very loud

Hello,

I have a sonos arc ultra + sub mini + 2 era 100 as surrounds. I have a problem when I recalibrate the system if trueplay has already been done once. The sweeps are very loud and almost unbearable. I have to do a hard reset (and link the sub and the era 100) before performing trueplay again. By now it is the only way i found to perform trueplay at a bearable volume.

Is it a normal behaviour for the arc ultra or do i miss something ? I use an iPhone se with advanced trueplay.

Moreover, if i perform simple trueplay on my android Phone, the sweeps are also very loud and the switch on/off for trueplay does not appear, even if trueplay finished without error.

Not sure this is an answer, but a comment. There is a difference between TruePlay with an iOS device and Quick TruePlay with an Android device. The former uses the iOS device’s microphone, the latter uses the microphone(s) in the speaker. And, to my understanding, Quick TruePlay (which really should be called something different) can’t be done on a home theater setup, only on individual devices (up to stereo or 3.0 for soundbars) but not for soundbars with surrounds and subs. When you ‘add’ devices of any type to a ‘room’, the TruePlay, of either type, settings are lost, so you have to redo them.

In your case, I’d suggest you call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Have you tried removing any case/cover and cleaning the microphone port?

@Airgetlam - Quick Tuning for a home theatre setup can be completed with an Arc Ultra.

See https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/tune-your-arc-ultra-era-100-or-era-300-with-trueplay

Moreover, if i perform simple trueplay on my android Phone, the sweeps are also very loud and the switch on/off for trueplay does not appear, even if trueplay finished without error.

I previously encountered an issue if Advanced Tuning was saved to the home theatre setup. If I then attempted Quick Tuning using an Android device, no Trueplay toggle was then available after completion. Simply removing either sub/surrounds to remove any stored Trueplay settings before re-adding them then allowed Quick Tuning to be completed on Android, with toggle then available.

Haven’t ran Trueplay for a while, so unaware of any significant difference in tone volumes during a recalibration.

Thank you for your answers.

I do confirm that android trueplay is available in a home theater configuration, even if the results are nowhere near advanced trueplay, in my room at least. When I just had the arc ultra without sub or surrounds, purchasing an second hand iPhone just to perform advanced trueplay made a huge difference, for music quality but even more for spacialization, especially in atmos. In my opinion this makes the biggest difference, going from a decent soundbar to a really good sounding one, and comes before addîng sub or surrounds.

It really seems that some mess is introduced after the first trueplay, with variation of loudness or disappearance of the toggle switch when recalibrating.

I will let the support know.

Thank you again !
