Suddenly not getting 5.1 on Playbase from PS5

I have a Playbase connected to my LG C1 TV via optical. I have a PS5 connected to the TV using HDMI. For a long time, I was able to reliably get Dolby digital 5.1 on the Playbase from the PS5. For the last couple of weeks, I'm only getting stereo PCM on the Playbase when using the PS5, at least when I look at what it says I’m getting on the Sonos App. I have not made any changes to the configuration as far as I can tell. The PS5 is set to prefer Dolby. The TV is set to passthrough the audio signal.

Has anything changed in the Sonos software that would cause this to stop working? I'm still getting 5.1 on my Apple TV and through the TV zone smart apps, so it's not a global problem. It's PS5 specific.

Does anyone else have a similar setup? If so, is this happening to you?

Hello @FamousMortimer, welcome to the Sonos Community!

There was no change from our behalf that would change the audio format. The Sonos Playbase will play whatever it is receiving from the optical connection with your TV.

I would suggest you to have a look on the PS5 Audio settings, adjust and test the outcome.

It might be game specific, some do not support surround audio. There are game audio settings to configure as well.

I’m not experiencing any issues and getting full Surround Audio on my PS5, but I have a Sonos Arc using an HDMI connection with my Sonos One surrounds.

With my response, your thread jumped to the top of the activity list, maybe other Sonos Community users with similar setup will provide you with further advice.

I hope this helps.
