Hello, I currently have a Samsung tv that does not support optical. First step in my troubleshooting was to buy the Sonos official optical adapter. Adapter did not support E-Arc nor did it support sound. After speaking with Samsung support they said I’m going to need an Audio extractor that is powered so that the e arc channel can register power is applied. Non of these options have worked. I’m pretty competent with reading schematics as I’m an Aviation Electrician, however this Sonos system is very limited and I just bought this tv and my Sonos ray is outside of its return policy. Any tips or troubleshooting I can do on my end to get these systems to work?

Thank you I very well could have received a bad extractor. Just unable to up to this point. I’ve played with the settings every other way and no joy.

I recommend to try another model or look for a replacement for the one you have.
„Playing“ with settings isn’t just a good idea… Better to know what you are doing over there. 😉

As mentioned atmos and eARC settings are important to manage to put out a compatible audio signal.
But I really suppose you got a bad extractor, because there is no light at the optical output at all.

Just to clarify the devices mentioned in this thread are Audio Extractors intended to be used with a source such as a DVD Player or maybe even an AppleTV box to send the video to the TV and the audio via optical to a soundbar. The OP’s choice https://a.co/d/5gj6t9S clearly states that a TV cannot be the source.

However, this device may work. Click this link:

@AjTrek1

Sorry, I took a look at the one @Rhonny mentioned above and didn’t see ops link. 🙈

Yes, a device without ARC support on hdmi out won’t work. But as described before by using a compatibel extractor there should be no problem.

@Hawkfan3193

So I recommend to replace your device with a compatible one like that @Rhonny mentioned above. Any extractor supporting a hdmi ARC output will work.
