Sonos Ray and TCL remote

Has anyone had any luck using the Ray with a TCL TV remote?  I have a TCL android TV which uses a RC901V FAR1 remote, I’m pretty sure it uses IR as I can see the light using a mobile camera and if I cover the end, the TV does not respond.  I can’t get the remote set up with the Ray however, running through the wizard it does not detect.  I have tried many times, sometimes close, others farther away and on the odd occasion it seems to detect something as it asks to press volume up three times (I presume to train).  It never completes and most of the time does not detect anything at all.  I have looked through TV settings and Ray settings but can’t find anything that might help.  Have also changed batteries and made sure light levels are low but nothing.  Anyone had same or similar experience?

In case anyone else gets this issue, Sonos think that there is something wrong with the Ray itself and are going to send a replacement out.  I will update once this happens to let you know if this resolves the issue.

Did you run the Remote Control Setup in the Sonos app?

Yes, it is the setup wizard that I mentioned in my message.  It doesn’t detect anything.

I suspect the TCL remote is not currently set up for IR. You may want to check the TV’s manual on how to switch from Bluetooth/RF over to IR.

I am pretty sure it is using IR as I can see the light when pressing buttons and if I cover the end the TV does not get the command.  Will have to raise with Sonos and see what they can come up with.

I’m having the same issue with the same tv. Let me know if you find a solution

A possible solution is to perhaps first check that the IR sensor is enabled on the ‘Ray’ …in the Sonos App, goto ‘Settings/System[Ray Room Name]/Use IR’ …and if it is, but still not working with the ‘TV Remote Setup’ wizard, to then submit a Sonos diagnostic report and note it’s reference. Then contact the Sonos Support Staff to establish if there is any issue with the IR sensor on the device, or to establish if there are any other issues.

Any update on this? Is it a known issue or an isolated incident? I have a TCL Model 49S405 tv on my patio and I was planning to hook up a Sonos Ray this weekend.  Thanks in advance!

Recibiste alguna respuesta?

I’m having the exact same problem.  :(

I had the same problem but got it to work. Press the volume+ button very fast. Pretty much as fast as you can. Not slow. The light on the Ray flashes when it sees the signal.

I also was dead center onto the Ray about 5 or 6 feet away, not sure if that matters as much.

(If you jumped straight to this answer the other trick is you have to turn off Bluetooth on the TV so the remote sends an IR signal the Ray can see.)

I should have added, no need to stop at 3 presses. Just keep pressing it until it gives you the next screen.

Purchased a Sonos Ray today. TCL remote is not being recognized. I tried the pushing the button really fast to get it to recognize, but then you have to push the button really fast to use the remote to adjust volume.  This isn’t working. I’m packing it up and taking it back unless someone from Sonos can give me a solution.

In that case it maybe best to reproduce the issue and then immediately submit a Sonos system diagnostic report from within the Sonos App, note it’s reference and then contact/chat with Sonos Support Staff via this LINK and see what the Staff can perhaps suggest to resolve the matter.
