Sonos Arc Connection Issues on Sonosnet – Help Needed!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my Sonos Arc and am hoping for some advice.

Here’s my setup:

  • Multiple Sonos speakers at home, all connected via Sonosnet (Beam in the Master Bedroom, which is hardwired to my Orbi RBK760 router).
  • My home theater system consists of a Sonos Arc, Sub 3, and 2 Sonos Ones as rears.
  • All other speakers in the house, including the Sub and Ones in the home theater, connect and work fine – except for the Sonos Arc, which frequently drops connection.

The problem:

  • The Arc regularly loses connection, even though the Sub and Ones (located right next to the Arc) have no issues.
  • When the Arc is disconnected, it often blinks white, and after restarting, it might alternate between white and red before (sometimes) reconnecting after multiple attempts.
  • The nearest Sonos speaker to the home theater is about 8m away, if that matters.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Restarting the Arc (results are inconsistent).
  • Ensuring the Sonosnet setup is working (since other speakers are fine).

It’s odd that the Arc struggles while the Sub and Ones work flawlessly. I’m open to any troubleshooting tips or suggestions you might have!

Thanks so much for your help!

Finally Solved!

After struggling with multiple resets and configurations, I finally got everything working, and I want to share my steps in case it helps others:

  1. Hard Reset the Arc:

    • This was tricky, as multiple attempts failed initially.
    • What finally worked was connecting the Arc directly to the router via an Ethernet cable during the hard reset.
  2. Re-Adding the Arc:

    • I encountered persistent issues trying to add the Arc back to the Living Room in the Sonos app.
    • Changing the room name to TV Room resolved the problem, and I was able to complete the setup.
  3. Switched to Wi-Fi (No SonosNet):

    • I’ve now moved my entire Sonos system to Wi-Fi, and everything is functioning perfectly without SonosNet.
  4. Signal Strength Check:

    • The Arc is now getting a solid 77 dB on SNR, ensuring excellent performance.

A huge thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to guide me through this. Your suggestions and patience made all the difference!

The Sub & Ones, once “Bonded” to the Arc will be on the Arc 5GHz wireless network.  The Arc is the one that needs a good 2.4GHz WiFi connection.  If it’s possible you can Ethernet the Arc, but from what I read don’t wire it to the satellite.  When the Arc is wirelessly connected is it to Sonosnet or your router’s network?  Is Sonosnet strong enough to connect to all speakers?  Check the Arc SNR as described in my above post and let me know the number shown.

I’m guessing this has already been done.  Also Sonos recommends having the router do “Band Steering” so there would only be one SSID showing on a network search.  Don’t know if Orbi does “Band Steering “.

I’m on Xfinity + one extender with “Band Steering”.  No connection problems here.  SNR readings between 60 & 70.

Any chance it is the power cord not fully inserted, that is often the source of a blinking white LED.

Gotta push it in hard and until it is flush. I use a tiny touch of DRY silicone (powder, not liquid or grease) on the outside of the cord connector.

Double checked this. It looks all good.

Thank you so much for all your help so far.

Unfortunately it isn’t possible to wire the Arc directly to the Router as they are at the opposite ends of the house.

I have just tried shifting everything to wifi, and the Arc is getting a solid white light now, but the surrounds and Sub are refusing to work together. I have tried removing and reconnecting multiple times now, but no luck.

The SNR reading on the Arc I am getting is 49.

I am in Australia, so my current setup is NBN Box (which is a NTD) connects directly to the Netgear Orbi 760 Router and then I have a satellite that is sitting in the Living room about 3-4m away from the Arc.

For what it’s worth, just tried restarting the Arc, Sub and Surrounds. Arc is now blinking red and white.

That means the Arc had an update that failed.

Before trying a reset, move the mesh node close to the Arc and hardwire it to the node and go into settings and check for updates.

Thank you. I just tried checking on the app for any updates, and it says the system is all up to date.

The SNR reading on the Arc I am getting is 49.

That should be good enough if it remains steady.  The 49 was while on the Orbi WiFi??

When you are able to see the Arc again in the app check Settings - Manage - About Your System and make sure the Arc is on  16.4.4 (build 81.1-58210).

when you had a solid white light on the Arc did you look at the Room to see if it showed the Sub & Ones still part of the Room?

A 100 foot / 30 Meter Ethernet cable is pretty cheap, spend a bit more and get a flat one that is much easier to store. My poor old back far prefers the cable to hauling equipment to where a short cable will reach.

Before I did much more I’d try a system refresh (NOT Factory Reset) by powering down ALL Sonos, rebooting router and controller, then powering the Sonos back up. Sometimes things get confused and booting everything involved is the best way to whack the problem.

Reddit on NBN device.  Don’t know if this is a real problem.
