Sonos Arc Connection Issues on Sonosnet – Help Needed!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my Sonos Arc and am hoping for some advice.

Here’s my setup:

  • Multiple Sonos speakers at home, all connected via Sonosnet (Beam in the Master Bedroom, which is hardwired to my Orbi RBK760 router).
  • My home theater system consists of a Sonos Arc, Sub 3, and 2 Sonos Ones as rears.
  • All other speakers in the house, including the Sub and Ones in the home theater, connect and work fine – except for the Sonos Arc, which frequently drops connection.

The problem:

  • The Arc regularly loses connection, even though the Sub and Ones (located right next to the Arc) have no issues.
  • When the Arc is disconnected, it often blinks white, and after restarting, it might alternate between white and red before (sometimes) reconnecting after multiple attempts.
  • The nearest Sonos speaker to the home theater is about 8m away, if that matters.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Restarting the Arc (results are inconsistent).
  • Ensuring the Sonosnet setup is working (since other speakers are fine).

It’s odd that the Arc struggles while the Sub and Ones work flawlessly. I’m open to any troubleshooting tips or suggestions you might have!

Thanks so much for your help!

Finally Solved!

After struggling with multiple resets and configurations, I finally got everything working, and I want to share my steps in case it helps others:

  1. Hard Reset the Arc:

    • This was tricky, as multiple attempts failed initially.
    • What finally worked was connecting the Arc directly to the router via an Ethernet cable during the hard reset.
  2. Re-Adding the Arc:

    • I encountered persistent issues trying to add the Arc back to the Living Room in the Sonos app.
    • Changing the room name to TV Room resolved the problem, and I was able to complete the setup.
  3. Switched to Wi-Fi (No SonosNet):

    • I’ve now moved my entire Sonos system to Wi-Fi, and everything is functioning perfectly without SonosNet.
  4. Signal Strength Check:

    • The Arc is now getting a solid 77 dB on SNR, ensuring excellent performance.

A huge thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to guide me through this. Your suggestions and patience made all the difference!

Have you tried changing the SonosNet and wifi channels? Running one of channels 1, 6 or 11 for SonosNet and either of the remaining for your wifi?
Environments change, so electronic items you or your neighbour has recently installed might be causing interference that wasn’t there a few weeks ago. Also, can you connect any of the speakers to Ethernet cable, at least temporarily to see if that helps?

It can also help to set ip addresses for your Sonos devices - ip address conflicts can cause connection issue. Your router manual should tell you how to do this.

Thank you @nik9669a

I forgot to mention in the post that I have already ensured the wifi 2.45ghz and Sonosnet channels are opposite ends. Additionally, I have also already setup all Sonos devices with static IP addresses. This issue continues nonetheless.

Sounds like you have done almost everything I would have done, except hardwire the Arc to your network. I have had my soundbars, Playbar and now the Arc, hardwired to my network and have not had any connection issues.. even through the new app release.

Give it a try, and if it solves your connection issue, look for a way to make it a permanent solution.

Is Sonosnet necessary?  How strong is your router’s WiFi?

The Sub & Ones seem to work flawlessly because they are using the 5GHz from the Arc.  The Arc requires 2.4GHz.

When the Arc is connected what is the SNR?  Settings-HT Room-Arc-Network.  Look for SNR.

Can this be done through a mesh satellite, or does it have to be the router?

Is it possible to have only the Arc, Sub and Rear Ones connected to wifi and leave the rest on Sonosnet? I did try moving everything to wifi once before, but it caused issues with dropped speakers and such. Support team asked me to separate the 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels by name, but my Netgear Orbi RBK760 series doesn’t allow me to name them differently.

 What mesh system?

Netgear Orbi RBK760 series - 1 router + 1 satellite

Any chance it is the power cord not fully inserted, that is often the source of a blinking white LED.

Gotta push it in hard and until it is flush. I use a tiny touch of DRY silicone (powder, not liquid or grease) on the outside of the cord connector.
