Hi, I have a Sonos Arc, Sub 3 and 2xEra 300’s as a Home Theatre Set up. Since I have had the 2x Era300’s (2023) i have consistently had audio drop out on an intermittent basis from the Era’s no matter where the source is coming from. Over the last two years I have done everything - changing channels 1, 6 or 11, resetting wifi, powering off and on etc etc.

Today Level 2 support have confirmed that “

I wanted to share some important information regarding the use of EU-version Sonos products in the UK and how this may affect your system’s wireless performance.

Sonos products designed for the EU market (Sonos Arc and Sonos Sub) can only connect to a more limited range of 5 GHz bands when used in the UK. As a result, you may experience reduced wireless performance or connectivity issues.

One or more of your Sonos devices may support different wireless regions. This mismatch can cause problems, especially when using them together in a home theater configuration.

We strongly recommend using Sonos products in the country for which they were designed and built. If your Sonos device is still within the return policy period, please contact your seller to explore options for replacing the device with one that is compatible with the region where it will be used, ensuring better performance and compatibility with your other Sonos products.”

Both the Era 300’s are UK spec, and the Sonos Arc and Sub3 are EU/UK spec and came from a major UK retailer with UK power cords?. This is the first I have heard of this issue, and wondered if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

As far as I can see, this means that the products do not work well together, and although there has never been any disclaimers from Sonos on this on the announcement of the Era 300’s, I believe that this is a Sonos issue that they need to resolve and that the grouping of these products are not fit for purpose and it feels like a recall.

I have read there's a difference between speakers made for the US, Europe and possibly Asia, but I highly doubt if there's a difference between EU and UK. In the case of someone using US sourced surrounds with a European soundbar the surrounds would not connect at all (if I remember well) and not drop out like yours do.

If as you say the Era 300’s are UK  spec and the Arc/Sub 3 are UK/EU spec there may be a slight difference as the latter is for lack of a better term Universal whereas the former is not. Only Sonos can provide a definitive answer. However, I fail to see the need for Sonos to issue a recall.

So if you buy a home theatre solution and it doesn't work as it should, as products bought in the UK are not now fit for purpose due to these minor regional differences that have not been explicitly called out and only recently identified? This doesn't warrant a recall or replacement?.

First of all I said “recall”. Now you’re interjecting “replacement”. I suggest you contact Sonos and plead your case. This forum is not going to provide you a remedy one way or another. No one here represents Sonos regarding your wants.

I have contacted Sonos, it was more for others awareness, and guidance if this was a known issue. I

But many thanks for your helpful guidance on this issue.

Scroll down to 5 gHz and there are minor differences in the two regions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

Channels 132-140 and 144-173 have different labels and footnotes.

No clue how that relates to Sonos and regions, really hoping to see  a Sonos Tech Note published on the whole region concept.

Here’s a recent post where @Corry P explains the differences between Sonos devices meant for different continents:

There’s no mention of a difference between UK and EU devices.
