My old Playbar isn’t recognizing the remote on my new Hisense Model: 55QD7QF.  It worked fine with the LG tv remote that I just replaced.  I tried changing remotes with the S1 app to no avail.  Any suggestions are much appreciated.  Thanks for your time.

Chances are high that the Hisense isn’t yet set up for IR use, you likely need to go into the settings on the TV to change it. Check the TV’s manual for IR (InfraRed) settings on the remote.

On my Hisense U6 TV, I had to go to Settings > Equipment Control > Soundbar and then it took just 3 sec to set up the remote.

This didn’t work for me.  Do you have an old (original) Playbar like I do, or another Sonos Soundbar?

I don’t have this option in my Hisense menu.

Have you checked with Hisense’s CS group? There should be a way to change the remote to IR. It should be covered in the TV’s manual, many TVs handle it via settings on the TV, but not all. If it isn’t mentioned in the manual, then their CS group should be able to help.

The generic approach that works with almost any TV remote is to configure the TV remote to control Volume on an arbitrary A/V system, then configure PLAYBAR to respond to those codes. In a growing number of TV’s there will be a “SONOS” manufacturer available on the TV remote setup menu. While.it’s not mandatory to use this manufacturer, it’s a nice easy, safe option.
