I’ve inherited a Sonos system in a new(old) house and trying to get it to work. I have managed to get the amp working with speakers in two rooms but having no luck setting up a surround sound system in my tv room. The playbar connects ok to the tv and I have sound from it. However, the two Play 1’s in the TV room (different room from where I’m using the amp and other speakers) won’t work and I’m getting the message - Connection - ‘An Ethernet cable, wired to your router, is required to allow WiFi to be disabled,’

Since my playbar and tv are far removed from the router, this is pretty impractical

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it ?

Check each speaker in your controller and ensure that the WiFi (which is all radio, not just WiFi) is turned on. You may need to temporarily wire all speakers to your router to do so, since you ‘inherited’ this system. It may be easier to move each speaker temporarily so it’s within reach of an Ethernet cable, it should be able to be moved back after the process.

Thanks Bruce, I’ll give this a try tomorrow

Problem solved - combination of several issues, but fortunately a reboot of the speakers avoided the need to remove them and plug directly into the router. Lessons also learned for me (or anyone else in the U.K. doing this for the first time) on what you can and can’t do through the Sky TV system !

Anyone else getting fed up with Sonos?

I have been using Sonos for more years than I care to count and enjoy the sound. To be honest I’ve pretty much had enough with having to constantly reboot the system as music wont pay through the play 1 with the sound bar (fine for a month or so then nothing again through the play 1)

I don’t want to investigate every other time why there is no sound.

maybe it’s time to sell off the Sonos stuff and go elsewhere as I have really had enough now!
