Mi Box Gen 2 -> HD Fury Arcana -> Sonos Bean Gen 2 - Will this setup work?
Hey everyone -
I have a pretty old Samsung TV (UA46C7000) that doesn’t support eArc, it does have an Arc port but it only outputs PCM.
I’ve been using the Xiaomi MI Box Gen 2 and I’ve connected it to the Sonos Beam using and optical cable. This give pretty bad results as the sound is metallic at times and is in stereo.
I’ve seen loads of good reviews on the Arcana being able to convey Dolby Atmos to the Beam. Does anyone have any experience with this specific setup? (Mi box → Arcana → Beam). Will it work seemlessly? Perhaps there’s a cheaper solution that’s I’m not aware of?
Many thanks!

I don’t have the Mi box but I use the HD Fury with great results - with both an Arc and Beam. Please see my setup below:
Thank you very much for your detailed reply! Looks a bit more complex then my setup
There are other alternatives. Here’s one that seems to be working well for a lot of people, which is combining the HDMI Switch into Arcana into a single device.(HD Fury also has device like this, but it’s overpriced and overkill for a lot of people). Like UKMeida, I also use Arcana and don’t have any issues with it.
Also, from his diagram, he’s hardwired all his devices to the router, but that isn’t necessary. Once you remove/ignore the ‘ethernet cable’ lines, it will look a lot simplier. And since you only have one input device, you really don’t need the HDMI switch.

Agree with Danny about the ethernet. I have a bungalow with thick solid walls and as I was refurbishing it, including the wiring, it made sense to install ethernet connections in most rooms.

Oh, I agree that it’s a good idea. I don’t have think walls, but I do have easy attic access and dropped a few ethernet cables that give me some piece of mind.
Thanks everyone. Since I only have one device I belive my setup should be fairly easy. I’ve decided to order a Feintech AX310 since I didn’t want to invest 250$ at this point and this device is quite small and has great reviews. Hoping for the best
Please let us know how you get on.
Update - I’ve received the Feintech AX310 device and connected it to the MI Box using eArc. Now I’m finally getting Atmos and 5.1 but the issue still persists.
This is frustrating.
What issue? The metallic sound?
Yes, it’s very noticeable, I believe mostly on stereo.
Did you perform a Trueplay?
Yes, I have performed trueplay, also tried to turn it on and off, also tried to play with the speech enhancement and night mode but to no avail.
