Lip Sync Issues Fixed

So, my previous setup was a 6 year old Samsung TV connected to a Sonos Beam Gen with inputs from a PS4 and Sky Q. I managed to get round lip sync issues using a Toslink adapter.

I recently updated to a Samsung QE55Q7F2AUXXU, and a Sonos Beam Gen 2 with the same two input devices. I found that the lip sync issue was present on this device too. It is worth stating that this TV doesn’t have an Optical Port despite the manual stating differently.

I searched online for a solution, and despite changing settings on the TV, Sky Q, and the PS4 (DVDs and BluRays), I still experienced lip sync issues. I purchased a couple of HDMI audio extractors and whilst the lip sync issue was resolved, I lost some functionality with the TV remote because the Beam wasn’t recognised as a fully connected audio device.

I then decided to do a little more research and after some trial and error, I have resolved the issue without the need for any other technology.

It turns out that after you’ve selected all the relevant settings, you then need to unplug all devices for a minimum of 30 seconds, then turn them on in the following order - TV, Input devices, then the Sonos Beam.

I hope this helps other users to resolve this very frustrating issue.

Samsung TVs are notorious for needing a forced HDMI handshake before working properly.

My experience with other SAMSUNG models has been to disconnect all HDMI cables from the TV, then power down everything for at least two minutes. Next, power up TV and SONOS, letting them finish their  reboot before connecting their HDMI cable. Make sure that the TV’s Anynet is enabled before connecting the HDMI to SONOS. Let them negotiate the HDMI connection for a couple minutes. Finally, connect the other devices to the TV.
