i recently purchased the sonos arc ultra and era300 speakers to create a home theater system when grouped together i get sound from the arc speaker and one of the era 300 the right rear but no sound from the left, if i disconnect all of them from the grouping i get sound out of all of them but loose dolby atomos effect

Speaking with sonos support, they have found that the one Era 300 speaker has the region as UK, while the rest are US, so it won't connect to the system. Waiting on tech support for a solution.

Why did you decide to Group them rather than set them up as a Home Theater Room?

If you decide to set them up as a single Room you should be able to hear sound from  each speaker and there should be no delay/echo that you get when Grouping.

If there is still an issue after setting them up as a single Home Theater Room you can try powering all Sonos down, rebooting the router, then powering the Sonos back up.

If still an issue, remove the surrounds and add them back swappi g the right and left.

And, if you have difficulty, you can always call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

For clarification: “grouping” is when you play two “rooms” together. When you set up a surround system all speakers should be in one “room” in the app - the Era speakers should have been added as surrounds to de soundbar “room”. Did you really “group” the speakers?

I'll check the Home Theater setup i didn't see it the first time, thank you

This is my set up, I get sound from fom the ultra and the right rear but not left rear. If I disconnect the home theater mode and play music through the sonos app I have sound.

What do you mean by…”disconnect the home theater mode” 🤔 That’s not a thing.

Whoa… there is no front left in a Sonos home theater. Are you using some type of 3rd party app? You should only have a soundbar, surrounds and maybe a sub. Then again are you saying you are hearing sound from the left side of the soundbar?

I removed the all from the home theater mode and set them up individually as separate speakers

No using the sonos app

It isn’t, to my knowledge, possible to set up three separate ‘front’ home theater speakers using the Sonos software. You either have the choice of a soundbar, which has separate right, center and left channels, or you can use a Sonos Amp to drive front right and front left, and have it generate a faux center channel.

Can you explain how you did this?

@Moose6864

Sorry…your explanation doesn’t track. You need to tell us what three (3) speakers you are supposedly using across the front for your Home Theater.

Once again a Sonos home theater only consists of a Soundbar in front, two spears as surrounds in the rear and a sub positioned where it produces the best low-end in a room. Anything else is incorrect using the Sonos app.

I set it up the arc ultra first then added the era 300s as far i understood when using it in the home theater mode i assigned which one is right and left and the app put them in as rear speakers i just labeled them right and left so it knows the position to send the sound to either right or left rears

I have the arc ultra and two era300's

Your screenshot evidences you had the Era 300s as rear surrounds.

If you are going to test your system, first make sure the source you are using is in fact providing the correct audio format. Majority of YouTube videos will provide stereo regardless of what the video is titled.

In addition, by removing the Era 300s as surrounds and grouping them with your Arc Ultra, there will then be a min 75ms delay on the audio from the Era 300s and they will play a stereo down mix of the overall audio being played on the Arc Ultra.

What do you mean you labeled them right and left so “IT” knows where to send sound to rears? What is the “IT” you are referring to?

So, if I’m reading the situation correctly, you have a front right, front center, and front left signal being sent to your Arc Ultra. You’ve ‘grouped’ a stereo pair of Era 300s and called them Right and Left (names that Sonos doesn’t care about, they’re just there for users to identify).

I’m somewhat surprised that you’re not hearing the 75ms delay between the Home Theater room (the Arc Ultra) and the grouped second room (your Era 300s).

My understanding is that the arc ultra is the brains of the home theater system, when I refer to front right and left front speaker it is the sound coming from the arc ultra either left side of it or the right side of it. The rears are the era 300 one on the right side the other on the side of my couch.

Do you have a music service that offers Dolby test tracks, 5.1 as well as Atmos? Amazon does, others too.

Try using them instead of YouTube where you can't really trust the claims or tracks.

Finally….

You’re overthinking this. Once the surrounds and maybe a sub are setup the Arc Ultra knows where to send the sound based upon the source material. Labeling is only for your benefit. If you are not getting sound to a surround it may because the source momentarily didn’t have any to provide or there is a fault with the setup.

Bottom-line if the sound not reaching a surround is constant and the source has a surround track your best option is to run a diagnostic within 10 minutes of the occurrence, make note of the reference ID and call Sonos Tech Support to analyze the data. Do not publish the  reference ID in the community

Using a YouTube video to test a surround setup is basically useless.  Unless you have a premium subscription and are playing premium content, YouTube videos are downgraded to stereo 2.0 upon upload.  Even if they are labeled as “DD 5.1” or “ Dolby Atmos”, it’s still stereo 2.0.

I do have the premium, now using Amazon prime watching top gun maverick was told that is a good test for the system getting good from the ultra and right rear era 300 nothing from left rear though
