I have a pair of play1’s and a play bar. My system sounds beautiful, put im thinking of adding a sub.  My question is.  Do you think I would benefit from from it.

Yes, without any doubt, but you are restricted to an older Sub or the Sub Mini. The current Sub 4 is not compatible with the Playbar.

@Birthday boy

A consideration for getting a sub is that you’d need to get an older generation sub as mentioned - and given the Playbar and the Play:1s are now considered legacy speakers after 10+ years, is there any consideration for replacing them first with an Arc Ultra (or even an Arc) and Era 100s - i.e. spend the Sub money on upgrading the core parts first as there could be a point (in the not too distant future?) when you will need to swap them out anyway. And then add a Sub slightly later.

You’ll never regret moving up to the Arc and Era combo, especially with Dolby Atmos capability...

It is your birthday after all!

Most ridiculous comment I’ll read today.

Look, I really couldn’t care less whether they replace their old speakers to help future-proof their system. Nor what you think of my suggestion.

Caveat emptor.

I get what you’re saying about future proofing my system.   But my issue is my system is working perfectly and I’m not prepared to scrap out the best part of a £1000 sound system.  And I’ve looked at the arc and listened to it.  And  to honest I thought the play bar sounds better than the arc.

Thanks for replying. It was just that if you’re shelling out £650 for a Sub 3, whether an Arc and Eras might come into it. But if not, then definitely add a Sub - I had a Playbar with Ones, plus a Sub, and it was amazing. Not as amazing as it sounds with the Arc though… ;)

I’m not sure replacing the speakers was that ridiculous a suggestion as no-one knows Sonos’ future willingness to support 12 year old equipment, especially when the new CEO has some commercial repairs to do. But what do I know?

It’s food for thought. And something to think about
