Era 300 - front of speakers placed facing down toward the floor (not possible?)

I’ve got 2 Era 300s that I’m trying to use as rear speakers in a surround setup. They’re mounted on the wall right above my sofa (about 90 cm directly above my head/listening position), as I had some custom brackets made so the speakers can point straight down toward the listening position.

The issue is that the system won’t let me set them up like this – it throws an error as soon as the speakers are placed facing down toward the floor. Has anyone run into this before or found a workaround?

Hope some of you guys can help 😊

If you are inverting the speakers, they need to be orientated 180 degrees ie. upside down from their regular position.

Info provided in the Era 300 user guide:

Note: Don’t position Era 300 vertically or at a steep angle or the audio will stop.

What would be the purpose of hanging the speakers this way?

Perhaps you have overlooked that the front speakers are deactivated in Surround and that only the side and top speakers work. The sound will therefore be projected into the room completely wrong (that is, if it worked)

If it is because you want the sound to be projected down towards you, you could mount it the other way around, so the height sound would be projected down rather than up towards the ceiling.

I believe that Trueplay will now support inverted 300’s, but not sure if that’s just for music or for home theatre too. You could try removing them as surrounds, then set them as a new room and see what happens? Or, check with Sonos support.
