I have an Arc Ultra via HDMI to the tv and use the Era 100 via Bluetooth as an extended speaker - not surround sound. The Era sometimes connects to the Arc and plays perfectly, but after a while it disconnects from Bluetooth and keeps connecting to HDMI on the app (which is is not connected via HDMI) and the sound disappears? How can I get the Era and Arc to sync every time I turn on the TV - or press the Era and turn on when the Arc is playing?
Hi
Welcome to the Community!
Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with your Era 100 not playing audio along with your Arc.
First, I do want to correct two small misunderstandings - 1) your Arc and Era 100 are not connecting via Bluetooth - they will be using WiFi to communicate, and 2) whatever the Era is doing, it is not “connecting to HDMI” - this is not possible.
So, as I understand it, you are using the Sonos app to group the Era to the Arc while TV audio is playing.
As the Arc is staying in sync with a TV picture, it will not buffer the audio in the same way that it would if only music was playing. As a result of this, the Era may skip audio from time to time if network conditions are not ideal. To combat this issue, there is a setting called Group Audio Delay for the Arc which will increase the buffer (and, as a result, the delay) between the source and the Era. Please open the Sonos app and go to Settings icon » sroom with Arc] » Group Audio Delay » Medium/High/Max (depending on results) and test. Increase the level until the audio interruptions cease. Please note that if you can hear the Era 100 and the Arc at the same time, the delay between the two will not sound good.
You can also disable the Ungroup on Autoplay setting on the same page to prevent the speakers from ungrouping when the TV is turned on.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for your help, but that does not solve the problem of getting the Arc Ultra and Era100 to play the tv audio (at the same time)- I’ve not been sync having issues when the Era finally connects to the Arc, but I purchased the Era as an extension speaker to the soundbar when I’m in my kitchen, but it never connects when I turn on the tv as the Arc Ultra always performs- assume it’s because of HDMI, but I was told at Best Buy the Era would be a perfect solution and seamless to connect to my tv and soundbar at all times. I have to mess with it, every time- turn on/off, press the cloud button, press ±. Sometimes it starts to play and sometimes it won’t and sometimes it works for a few minutes, starts to skip or lose connection and turn off. I’m very frustrated, because Sonos is supposed to be SO easy and bulletproof!??
Bottom line, the app seems to confuse the devices pairing them together where the ERA thinks it’s connected via HDMI with the Arc? I can’t delete them and when I reset it takes a long time to get them recognized on my system. It keeps showing the Era as “not connected”???
In the settings for the Arc room, Under Home Theater, switch “Ungroup on Autoplay” to Off. This will keep the Era 100 from ungrouping when the TV is turned on. Note, this is not going to automatically keep the Era 100 grouped with the TV at all times. If it gets ungrouped somehow, you are going to need to manually group it again.
You really need to call Sonos Support to get this sorted out.
Hi
If the app shows the Era 100 as “not connected”, then there may be other issues at work here. Also, I do not know what a “cloud button” is.
Please note that if you remove a speaker from power, it will not still be grouped (not paired - that is something entirely different. You can see a list of Sonos terms at my Sonos Terminology article - I recommend you do so as it can get confusing when different terms are used) when turned back on. And, if a speaker has difficulties with remaining connected to WiFi, it may also be removed from the group for that reason.

I hope this helps.
