Hi guys, I probably felt into trap I totally do not expect.

I decided to go full Sonos, so spent like 4k on the speakers and accessories, but had no idea, that even these days, someone will build the device with one input.

So - do you have any experience with automated HDMI splitter? Or at least some remote / home assistant integradable?

My setup is:

One side of room:

  1. Panasonic UB9000
  2. Apple TV
  3. PS5
  4. Sonos Arc Ultra

15m HDMI cables running inside the walls into ceiling mounted projector JVC DLA-NZ7

Until now I was using like 15 years old 2+1 system with many inputs, so I was able to sent video into projector and audio into amp.

Was would be your suggestion, to keep get the max from the Arc?

The ARC Ultra runs off of HDMI eARC, not standard HDMI audio. The device that reroutes the standard audio and reflects it to the ARC output is in the TV, part of the CEC system. That means it needs to be connected to your TV’s ARC port, using a cable of the correct or higher HDMI spec, such as the one Sonos provides.

How you matrix the input to the TV is up to you, using any HDMI switch. You just need to maintain the Sonos’ connection to the ARC port.

Well there is no TV and no ARC. So I need another device to use Sonos?

Ah, this projector has no ARC output?

There are many eARC generating devices, and some of these companies make switches for HDMI input as well, click on the links, and search around.

There is the HD Fury Arcana, the Feintech VAX04101k, and the OREI HDA-935. You can also order from those links from the companies directly, or check your local retailers for availability. Amazon may carry some, depending on location. At this point, there may be more manufacturers, I haven’t been keeping track.

Unfortunatelly not, its 15k projector, but like 4 years old :/

Ok Fury HD makes perfect sense, I can use it for all devices for both audio and video switching. Thats would do the job! Thanks sir!

As near as I can tell, in order to get ARC/eARC enabled projectors, they need to be fairly new. Not sure it’s worth replacing yours…but then I don’t pay much attention, since I’m not in that market. Glad you’re on your way to figuring it out.

I’d be mildly worried about the version of HDMI on those cables, though. If memory serves (it can be looked up, I’m too lazy), HDMI version 1.4 includes the first version of ARC. If I were purchasing cables today, I’d make sure there at least version 2.1, or higher. Of course, it would be hard to find ‘old’ version cables for sale these days, but I don’t put anything past people who don’t understand the difference. Especially ‘this is used, but really cheap’ sale types. ;)
