Unfortunately, my Beam Ultra arrived today.

I'm not able to unpack it or install it for a couple of days; mega frustrating!

How are other new owners finding theirs?

I’m finding mine in the back room waiting to be opened. Maybe this weekend? 🤞

Grab the latest App update if you have Apple, otherwise it is a rolling release so it will show up automatically for you.

I received the update today on Android and iOS devices.

Nice,  but since it is a rolling release not everyone gets it the first day, I seem to get it at about day 10 and everyone should have by day 14

Note, iOS folks can manually force the update.

Just curious, but doesn’t the Google App Store work similarly? Essentially grabbing the latest build, when you check for updates?

Trying to wrap my head around two separate ‘builds’ being maintained, although I suppose all you’d really need to do is match the old ‘build’ in terms of a check sum. But then you’d think deleting the current ‘old’ build from your device and downloading a ‘new’ build would resolve that. Just can’t make business sense out of storing two builds on a server, just to satisfy ‘rolled out’ releases.

I do, however, recognize why a company ‘rolls out’ releases. But that’s a completely separate issue. It’s been too long since I’ve needed to interface with either (well, many) of the ‘stores’.

My Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra both already arrived yesterday. I was able to set up Beam Ultra with latest Sonos app version before today’s update.
First fix I found after the update is now showing Beam Ultra as an incompatible device for Alexa setup. Yesterday I was able to try adding Alexa but ran into an error message.
After some quick tests I‘m very satisfied with Beam Ultra and I‘m happy about replacing Beam 2.

And just my personal experience… mounting Beam Ultra to the wall with original Sonos wall mount for me was somewhat tricky. It perfectly fits very flat to the wall, but it’s not quite easy to manage  ables.
But in the end everything worked.

Happy Birthday!  Just a guess.

As far as I can tell the Google store checks something, no clue what, and decides which app version to offer you. I see the  new version mentioned here, I check from multiple Android devices and only see the old version. Checking back every day I still only see the old version until about day 10.

Deleting and checking still shows the old version. Same for Deleting, rebooting and checking.

Nothing I have tried gets me the new version early.

Very frustrating to see the cool kids playing with the new toy while I sit and wait for days for mine.

I've gone through 3 Apple devices, originally purchased for Trueplay and later also used for early App updates but as that is all I use them for the expense just wasn't justified.

It is possible to use an alternative store - not Google Play - such as apkmirror.....
