The bass setting between 0 and +10 results in very little change in intensity. Can this be fixed without buying more Sono equipment.

It’s always challenging to get good bass out of smallish drivers, the physics isn’t optimal. Especially from such a small soundbar.

Have you trued a TruePlay tuning?

Or called Sonos Support directly to discuss it?

In order to get what I consider ’useful bass’, and that really is a relative term, I purchased a subwoofer. Sonos sells a ‘mini’ and a standard version, but those are, as you note, an extra cost.

You may be wishing for the type of bass you can get from larger speakers, that a soundbar is not capable of reproducing. There are trade offs when selecting a soundbar over an amp/receiver and speakers with larger drivers. The Beam supplies adequate bass response for many, especially when Trueplay has been done, but it will not provide wall shaking bass. For this you will need a Sub Mini or the full sized Sub. Then the Beam can better provide the mid and high frequencies.

Thank you all for your quick responses. Your comments about what to expect from something less than proper speakers is understandable. I will look for Trueplay and see if it helps. Regards. Malcolm

We find our Beams’ bass adequate for general TV watching, far better than any of the TV‘s speakers but it is a bit light for action movies or loud music.

We have had our Beams so long the Mini-Sub wasn’t available so we added the full sized Sub to the one we watch movies on and the improvement was huge.

Check the sale prices, you should be able to get 20% off for a while.

Thank you Stanley, I'm going to look into getting a sub woofer as per your suggestion. Going to check prices and availability. Best regards.
