I turned it off. As I had no problems before the feature was added.

Same here.
I have now "tested" it since the first beta and experience no improvements/changes. The only difference is that the SONOS App says Atmos for everything.

You could argue why turn it off or on when it has no change for your setup, maybe it will affect our system in the long run when new updates come from both Apple and SONOS. These would be hard to detect if you have disabled Continuous Audio Connection.

@Peter_254

I totally agree… I keep the option turned off, too.
The only „advantage“ I could see at the moment is getting DD5.1 automatically (though Atmos is shown in Sonos App) instead of Multichannel PCM.

What I‘m also wondering about is (with continuous connection turned off) that I only can get DD5.1 by forcing it as output also if Atmos ist turned off in ATV settings. Not sure completely… but I think before it was possible to get DD5.1 without forcing it if Atmos was turned off. But maybe I don’t remember correctly.

I turned the option on after tvOS26.4, as I was hoping to remove the 1-2 delay before audio kicks in and also in the hope that the Atmos sound drop every 20-30 mins would be eliminated.

I think I achieved the former but the latter sound drop still happens with Atmos content.

So given the Sonos app then believes everything is in Dolby Atmos, and the most annoying element wasn’t overcome, I just turned the setting off...

With the “Continuous Audio Connection” turned off I get all codecs as intended. I think there was too much hype about the feature/issue that probably only affects a selected features. Things were blown out of proportion. JMO.

I would like to agree, but Apple don’t let me get native DD5.1 audio track automatically. I prefer DD5.1 because Multichannel PCM has a relatively low volume and center channel. But always if there is no Atmos track and I would like to get a native DD5.1 track I have to force it in Audio settings.
hmpf… but I know that’s a different topic.

Well, since Sonos “thinks” that everything is Atmos with this setting on, I started getting this sound drop issue on ALL content including YouTube and regular TV. So keeping it off for now.

With such a clear connection between Atmos and the sound drop on Sonos, I find it incredible that none of the finest tech minds at Sonos has been able to solve it…

Since this update my Apple Remote won’t control my Sonos system. Anyone know how to fix that? I’ve already followed all of apples troubleshooting. So please skip that as an answer.

Depending on your system, most remotes don’t actually control Sonos, they control the TV. It’s the CEC commands from the TV that communicate with Sonos to send volume commands.

Which Sonos soundbar is giving you trouble? Which TV set? Have you checked the TV set for updates? Have you tried rebooting the Apple TV, the actual TV, and your Sonos (all should be off at the same time)?

Yes, as I stated above, I have gone through apple’s suggested troubleshooting. All of my settings are exactly the way they were prior to the update where the volume control worked perfectly. And everything has been turned off and turned back on.

Looks like updating my tv did work. I must have messed up when I tried to do it manually before. Thanks!

For others reading this thread, turning on and off a TV, or a Sonos, doesn’t force a reload of the OS, so a literal unplugging from the wall is necessary.

Well, after Sony’s latest update the Apple Remote will not control the Sonos system again. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Why is Sony updating an Apple Remote?

Sony is not updating an Apple Remote.

- After the recent apple update my Apple Remote stopped controlling my the volume on my Sonos systems.

  • I looked here for advice and you suggested I update my Sony tv; which i did.
  • That seemed to have fixed the Apple Remote controlling the Sonos systems.
  • Sony came out with another update this weekend.
  • After updating the tv, the remote no longer controls the volume on the Sonos system.

Make sure the Sony update didn’t disengage its HDMI CEC.

The HDMI CEC is still active. Thanks for the idea.

As the Sonos receives commands (like volume) from the TV, it does sound like Sony changed something that affects CeC, as @AjTrek1 suggested. Not sure what it was, since I don’t have whatever Sony TV you have, and am not familiar with Sony’s update processes. However, I’d be awfully tempted to try to reset the CEC system in the TV by unplugging the TV from the wall for two minutes, and then plugging it back in. Wouldn’t really hurt to do the Sonos at the same time, even though I’m betting the issue isn’t there. But, as I say, it wouldn’t hurt to reset them both.

If it still isn’t working, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution. Certainly, I’d think Sonos could see if any information is coming from the TV via the ARC (HDMI) system from the TV’s CEC computer.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

This most likely. It happens occasionally.
