Hi @Coppy,
Glad to hear you’re happy with the performance of the Arc Ultra.
Regarding the placement of the Sonos Arc: You can place it behind the TV, but I wouldn’t recommend it and I don’t think anyone else would. By doing so, you’ll be blocking the speakers from firing correctly, especially the upwards firing speakers. At that point, I’d even suggest wall-mounting above the TV (though this also isn’t recommended, but it’s better than behind in my opinion.) Here’s what the Sonos Arc user guide says about TV stand placement:
- Place horizontally on a stable and level surface.
- Keep 4" (102mm) space (minimum) between the top of the soundbar and the bottom of your TV (if placing soundbar below the TV).
- Don't place vertically or on its side.
- Make sure the touch controls are facing up.
All that considered, a bad placement isn’t going to stop the Arc from working. Your best bet is just to try it out and see what you think.
Other users may have better suggestions but for now, I hope this information helps!
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for the good advise and timely as well.
It worked out that I could get it in front as it’s the same width as the TV . And it sounds great as well.
Best,
Bob Coppersmith
As I understand it the Arc Ultra works with all Sonos Sub generations. There is no Sonos 1, so if you mean the One or One SL; they will work with the Ultra too. Only the Play 1 should not work with the Ultra (but there are reports of people being able to bond them as surrounds to an Ultra).
Hey 106rallye,
Thanks of the suggestion. Nothing lost from trying to put them on. If this doesn’t work, I will eventually buy a pair of one of the new variety so this may save some money! The point made by the Sonos Tech is that rear speaker are not absolutely needed any longer due to the Ultra’s design. Seems to be true.
