Here is my setup. LG G4 77 inch, Arc Ultra, Sub 4, pair Era 300s, and Xbox Series X.

Issue I am having is what seems to be center channel on Arc Ultra not producing proper audio.

REALLY notice it in Borderlands 3 when NPC is talking, dialogue is incredibly low or nonexistent. If do turn my character on screen at just certain diagonal position in relation to NPC, it provides little better audio. but still not proper in relation to rest of on-screen running audio. Elder Scrolls Online when completing a dolmen, after all the pinions are closed, and Molag Bal is speaking (offscreen, but speaking “overhead”) right before final enemy drops, Molag Bal is near impossible to hear. But all the other audio, in both the above examples are completely normal in audio. Just dialogue are the issues.

Neither of the above examples EVER happened when used Bose Lifestyle 650.

It is so very noticeable, not only ruins any fun in playing the games, but really, really, has me regret purchasing the complete Sonos system.

Also like to add, I changed output to 5.1 and 7.1 in the Xbox Series X audio settings. It did not correct the issue. Believe even tried stereo uncompressed as well.

Hi @GuyinPA75

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Arc Ultra setup. So I and the community can help, I have a few questions regarding this issue.

Just to confirm, other game audio is fine (music, sound effects, menu, etc) and only dialogue has issues or can you also notice it with those? If you watch TV or a movie, do you also have dialogue issues or does this issue only occur with the Xbox Series X?

I’d also suggest checking your speech enhancement setting to see if turning it on or off helps resolve this. Looking online, these seem to be the settings that most users suggest for their TV and Xbox, so I’d recommend testing with your settings as such:

TV settings:

  • HDMI Input Audio Format: Bitstream
  • Digital Sound Output: Pass Through
  • eARC Support: On

Xbox settings:

  • HDMI Audio: 5.1 Uncompressed (gaming, streaming, Blu-rays), Dolby Atmos for home theater (Dolby Atmos content)

I hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply. The settings above can confirm had since start of using the system.

Now can also add watching on another player (Panasonic DP-UB820-K) dialogue issue is present. The movie Furiosa: Mad Max Saga, a scene where characters are speaking into megaphone type system, the dialogue level actually goes lower in the same scene then when not speaking into megaphone speakers. It is very noticeable. Also later in the movie a character leaves a vehicle and screams out loud in frustration. The sound level is lower than when speaking normal level, not yelling. A character then walks down the road speaking and dialogue level is unnaturally low.

With all the examples I’ve listed so far, all other sounds (music, sound effects, menu, etc) are normal and draw zero attention. But with all examples above it absolutely commands attention that there is something just not right.

To me, wonder if driver/speaker not functioning or maybe a soundboard issue?

Best I can do is stress, it is sooo noticeable, that absolutely draws me completely out of immersion of the movie/game. Truly is that profound.

Hi @GuyinPA75,

Thanks for confirming the settings that you’ve tried.

I think you’re correct here and this is most likely the issue: after checking with my colleagues they would agree. If you haven’t already (though I’m sure you have) try rebooting the Arc Ultra by powering it off for one to two minutes.

If a reboot doesn’t help, then I would recommend recording a video of the issue and reaching out to our support team to discuss replacement options with them. You could also try to factory reset the unit to see if that helps, but our support team will likely suggest you do that with them, so it may be best to wait.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for reply.

Yep, I tried all the above suggestions with your last post. That’s what has me thinking issue with the driver/speaker/soundboard.

Going try and speak with retailer and see if they will just exchange. If so, really hope that clears everything. If not, unsure what to think.
