Hi I've had this issue for a few weeks whereby every now and then - and I cannot put my finger on how often it occurs, maybe once a day, where the sound reduces and the green light flashes for a few seconds (like it's updating or something) then comes back to normal.

Is this normal? It's bloody annoying.

Thanks

No its not flashing during normal use and the sound is not muted.

Green light comes on when the sound temporarily reduces. I'll check whether it flashes next time it occurs.

Are you sure it is green and not white?

If you have a voice assistant installed, the sound will duck when the voice assistant believes it heard the wake word (at the same time, the status light will illuminate white) then a few seconds later, the sound will go back to the set volume.

@bonerp1

Does the led flash green constantly? If so, this indicates that the volume is muted. Please open the Sonos App and check the volume for the specific room to double check.
The question is why volume is changed… that could be done via Sonos App, an IR remote control, hdmi cec from tv or voice control.
Also someone could control your system from „outside“ if you’re using direct control like Spotify supports.

Or, generate a diagnostics report a few minutes after it happens and contact Sonos support.

It’s clear that it normally doesn’t flash during normal playback or standby. The intention of my question was to clarify if the led is on green constantly when your problem happens or of it is flashing/ blinking green.
These are different kinds of official led status.
But I think best would be to send a diagnostic as @nik9669a mentioned. So Sonos support can see what‘s probably causing a change of volume.

One person recently reported an issue because the daughter’s name is “Alexa”.

Seems to have solved the issue! Turned off voice and haven't noticed it since. Maybe the TV was saying a word that sounded like alexa and it started listening.

Thanks all
