The sonos beam covers the IR receiver on my TV

I'm thinking of getting a Sonos Beam gen 2 soundbar but because of the specs the bar is too high and covers the IR receiver on my 2021 Sony TV X90J. Does anyone know any solution? Thanks.

@Ken_Griffiths If the remote is ir and the Beam would be covering the receiver on the TV,  how would the TV know what commands to send to the Beam via HDMI-CEC?

Just to clarify, I was referring to the case where the TV is not using an IR remote (I don’t think the Sony remote is infrared, by default, as it has a built in voice-feature option).

So the TV receives all commands from the Bluetooth/wireless, remote …then using CEC it sends the volume commands to the Beam via the HDMI cable. If there is a universal IR option available for the ‘remote’ too, it can be enabled for the Beam IR receiver only, I guess, but I would not recommend that personally speaking as the volume/mute instructions may be received twice when the TV is ‘on’ but this can vary by TV make/model.

You could put your TV on a shallow base, so it will sit higher up.

By the way: are your sure your 2021 TV still uses ir? Most TV's use bluetooth by now, I would expect.

If the Sony remote has ‘voice assistant’ support, it’s likely not using infrared - that’s often one way to tell, but the Beam2 would normally be connected by HDMI ARC/eARC to the TV anyway and so it’s likely that infrared would not be needed to control volume etc; as CEC control would be available to you.

Ah, right. Your statement about ir “would not be needed to control volume” is meant for the case where the  ir-remote would control the Beam directly.

A simple booster / base under the TV stand may be enough, I used a couple lengths of 1x2 spray painted black.

With the bigger new TV and Arc, we went to a much nicer stand that offers adjustable height (needed as the Arc is way taller than the Beam) as well as swivel and tilt to get the best picture.
