Thank you all for your input in the community. I have an older Sonos soundbar with an optal icconnection cable, but my new TV lacks the port to support it—is there any way I can still use the soundbar?

There are lots of devices that change HDMI sound to optical. Most are HDMI switches (search Amazon for examples), and a quick search of these forums will turn up lots of suggestions.
