So I bought a Beam gen 2 for my bedroom mounted on the wall on a Sonos wall mount.
The soundbar is updated trueplayed and connected to a 2022 Apple TV.

When testing the soundbar I immediately noticed that the voices are balanced towards the left side of the tweeter in the middle.
There’s a midrange speaker on each side of the tweeter and this array I assume is responsible for the center channel. Not talking about the far left and right speakers.

Now getting up close to the soundbar the “issue” becomes a lot more noticeable and when you’ve first noticed it it’s hard to ignore.
I talked to Sonos support and told them about the issue and we decided to replace the unit.

New unopened box.
I installed the unit hoping that the issue would be fixed but lo and behold the issue still exists.
So now I start thinking that this is by design and that voices and main effects are played by the midrange on the left side of combined with the tweeter in the middle and the right midrange is somehow used for additional effects.

Maybe the center array is supposed to be phased by design and because the soundbar is only about 2,5 meters away it has limited effect?

Can any Sonos tech confirm this or perhaps any Beam gen 2 user. Voices should always be centered IMO.

I’ve tried resetting the soundbar. Running trueplay multiple times and also tried a different device (LG TV)

Happens on streaming services, YouTube and flow TV no matter if it’s Dolby Atmos, Dolby 5.1 or stereo.

Might Trueplay be the cause? Have you listened with Trueplay turned off?

Jup, same issue and also on the first unit.
Tried everything.
I’m willing to bet that it’s the standard for the soundbar but most people probably doesn’t notice it

But your suggestion is appreciated 🙂

What sound format are you playing?

Tried all formats

But it does look like it’s by design.
It’s a phased design.
