Can not get app to recognise my sonos ace  headphones

If you’ve tried the basic troubleshooting steps and ensured the Sonos app is running the latest release, then I’d contact Sonos Support.

Do you have Ace connected by Bluetooth to your device? What device are you using.

Have you successfully connected Ace to the app previously or is this the first time?

If you force close and reopen Sonos app, does Ace then show as connected?

Same issue here. Android app. Works on iOS perfectly fine. Doesn't even show up on android Sonos app even tho I can connect it via Bluetooth. I tried clearing cache, reinstalling the app etc. it didn't help.

I have both iOS and Android devices. iOS is my main device.

My Ace would not connect to my Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ although other BT devices were discovered  and connected. I verified that the Android OS was up to date as well the Sonos app.

My conclusion was that the BT request by the Ace was being rejected by the Android OS.

This next part is critical if you are using the same Ace between iOS and Android.

  1. My Ace is called “Sonos Ace White” primarily because I have two other Ace headphone sets with different names.
  2. I made sure the BT was turned off for my other iOS devices.
  3. I made sure that the Sonos app had permissions for BT discovery and location services tuned on in Android OS.
  4. I opened the Sonos app on my Samsung Tab A9+ to “Add Headphones”
  5. I performed a factory reset of my “Sonos Ace White” after which it entered pairing mode
  6. My Ace was discovered by the Sonos app and setup began
  7. After Ace setup was completed I renamed it to “Sonos Ace White” again
  8. I disconnected the Ace from Sonos app and verified that I could connect the Ace again without going through a factory reset which was successful.
  9. I turned off BT on my Android device and verified that I could connect the “Sonos Ace White” to my iOS device which was successful.

Conclusion

  • For some reason; as I stated in the beginning, the Android OS rejected the Ace pairing (or maybe vise versa). In any event the factory reset of the Ace to connect to Android resolved the problem.
  • YMMV.
