It keeps asking for location and accuracy

What does? You need to give a bit more information.

If there is a geographical issue, where are you and where did you get your audio system?

Can you explain the title of your post? “headphone connection within the app using book shelf from ikea” does not make much sense, as you cannot connect any headphone to an IKEA bookshelf- not even a Sonos Ace.

Nor is the Sonos app a ‘player’ that outputs data via the headphone jack…it is a remote control that tells the speaker (the IKEA bookshelf) what to get and play.

The only time you get asked for location and accuracy is during the installation of the Sonos App on your device. So are you trying to install the Sonos App? Otherwise your post makes no sense at all.

Hi, thanks…

I bought a bookshelf IKEA speaker a while back and uploaded the Sonos radio and music (it's brilliant).

The app gives option to add headphones

So searched for headphones and come across Sonos ace headphones

I added the device after location indicator signal failure. I couldn't detect the symbol on mobile device, maybe it has been sabotage during set up or through the wave frequency.

But got Sonos headphones added eventually!

But can not hear the radio or music stations on the given app like I can with the Sonos bookshelf IKEA version.

I genuinely bought the IKEA Sonos book shelf for quality sound coming from mobile device, pc, TV ect but got attached to then Sonos music on the app. I listen to that more often.

But due to the quality and volume I decided it's to disturbing to neighbours and others in the housing environment I live in.

So it was best for me to buy headphones and thought it would be best if I buy the same brand..

But it's not connecting to the sonos app music and controller. No music plays through the Sonos app.

I can however, hear music on headphones on YouTube and Facebook (but not Sonos app).

I found that there is a HD paid version of Sonos app for music available. But not going to invest or subscribe unless I can connect the Sonos ace headphones.

I assume if I can't connect through basic version or means it will not work on the monthly paid app version (HD).

My location is well surrounded by frequency and radio pathways. It's got high tariff for devices. However, I would again assume only for updated mobile phone versions.

I have very old devices like Samsung A01, realmme 03 and Samsung 08 plus.

I don't have laptop just yet.

The broadband is fastest version and up to date. But it might need a booster (unsure why apart from the intermittent recieving and sending (this takes place even though the WiFi has bars). It's odd and probably a virus or a scam (don't know).

Can the community help and guide me to get the headphones working playing Sonos music stations through the Sonos app?

The headphones ace Sonos has no WiFi connectivity (only blue tooth).

The IKEA speaker Sonos bookshelf has WiFi connection and Bluetooth.

I would have assumed the headphones would have used the WiFi from the speakers Intel and Bluetooth to get streaming.

Otherwise I don't really understand why it asks for "add headphones or other devices and components" in the Sonos app..

I'm sure it all connects together some how like Sonos sound bar and television.

Can you help me to get things going..

Many thanks

P.s hope this is enough info for the community to know exactly what the matter is..

The headphone aren’t a ‘room’ in Sonos. They don’t connect directly to your library. They’re essentially Bluetooth headphone, that you can connect to a Sonos soundbar, as indicated in the sales information for the Sonos Ace, and, if memory serves, also on the box, and the instructions that came with the Ace.

You can connect your Sonos Ace to a device that broadcasts in Bluetooth, like a computer, or mobile phone, and use a player on that device to play your music. But it won’t be the Sonos controller, as that is not a ‘players, but instead a remote control for your Sonos speakers.

Thanks, question: how do you make the most out the Sonos headphones if I can't listen to the Sonos music collection?

I would have assumed the headphones had one hub (the Sonos WiFi bookshelf (as example) speaker router and then a bluetooth joining system (where many can enjoy from one loud speaker (book shelf IKEA version) like a multi cable jack socket).

The tech stuff on device (headphones and other expansible speaker including sound bar and TV) should have a way, it's simple connectivity maybe over looked and missed out. But I would assume with an update or upgrade on system application it could install the Bluetooth connectivity to the controller with multi users (using Sonos headphones).

Otherwise in all I don't understand the personalisation and uniqueness of the headphones (it's just like the rest even ones from pound land or shop preform the same).

It's a bit embarrassing however, it can be worked with and maybe solved...

You are correct, the ace are basically a Bluetooth headphone just like any other.

The Sonos specific functionality is limited to being able to connect to current soundbars to echo the content being played through the connected soundbar.

Unfortunately there are no expectations that this will change. As @Airgetlam says, this is well documented here and in the Sonos literature.

What I might understand in the future could make sense. I can hear YouTube content through there app but not Sonos music or audio content on Sonos app..

Proper support is needed and help in the code language. Sonos can do it (maybe) and expand as most other media and stationary video/music/upload/steady apps out in the market can.

These apps need WiFi to run online, and they connect to Bluetooth devices.

It's not fair!

I bought Sonos headphones in hope to listen to content on Sonos app as a great fan but disappointed. I love the products but this Sonos app connectivity issue is trouble and a invitation to problem solver and right or wrong decision makers.

I'm sure something I have not discovered is the reason but need to ask tech genius and experts..

Thanks for replying

This is not a connectivity issue, it is a (much wanted) feature the Sonos Ace just does not have. As is pointed out above, this is not a secret.

Sonos did not choose to make the Ace work as a “room” in the Sonos, probably because using wifi instead of bluetooth would make the headphone bulky, because it would need a bigger battery. This also meant Sonos did not make the Sonos app into a music player. It is still a remote to the system the Ace is (unfortunately) not really a part of.
