Parametric eq is essentiel for an high end headphones in the market and would let a lot more choice for customers....

Ldac support would be a great choice since aptx lossless is supported by 10 devices in the whole world, whereas ldac is a lot more common....

I disagree on your first point. Sonos mostly caters to a not very tech savvy, but well off clientele. It looks like parametric eq will give may of them a brilliant chance to scr*w up their sound.

They could give the choice at least : like in the app, one simple setting, and another settings called " pro " where you can set the sound like you want…

So, why other compagnies provide eq or parametric eq?

So, why other compagnies provide eq or parametric eq?

Maybe Sonos thinks they know what sound profile you want to hear better than you do?

There are two different philosophies on this, and inexplicably, both are tenets of  “audiophile” thinking:

  1. Strive for the purest, most transparent sound you can, whether it be via components or room analysis, and serve that up to the listener as is. Witness the boutique brand amplifiers that brag about not even having a tone knob, for example.  aka the “Our ears know best” philosophy.
  2. Let the user transform or modify the sound to their hearts delight, whether by equalizer or DSP, no matter how bad it sounds to anyone else.  aka the “Your ears know best” philosophy.

Sonos has proven to be much more in the former camp than the latter, with minor concessions like the 3 band equalizer aside.

I'm Ok with your thinking

But sonos is far from audiophile…

I really like sonos , have many products of them, but we are really far from quality materials or algorythms you can see in other audiophile brands like Focal…

For me sonos is like Sony, bose, apple etc who provide eq.

I never said they were audiophile quality.  I mentioned the “audiophile” moniker to demonstrate that even with the disparity of the two philosophies, both are equally embraced by the “audiophile” class of listeners, who are supposed to be experts.  And in case I wasn’t obvious, this is one of the many reasons I put “audiophile” in quotes most of the times I use the term.

When you have blown your ears out from excessive noise exposure the lack of ability to compensate is a big issue. Even worse for something like the Ace that isn’t compatible with many hearing-aids.
