At least there's clarity for the newer devices: no GA, period. It does not look like there are plans to work with Gemini.

I use a Sonos One and a One SL with my Arc Ultra as surrounds. GA runs on the One.

I tried to be an optimist and was going to stick with Sonos and hopefully wait for this to resolve, but I’m growing more pessimistic.  Bought an Era 300 and then returned it.  Have a bad feeling I’ll only keep my Arc+sub and will have to replace everything else with a system that uses Gemini.  Really a shame since it suggests the end game for Sonos in all this is obsolescence or getting bought ...

Our new flat has smart lights, motion sensors, smart thermostats, etc. We heavily use LLMs on a daily basis for work and leisure. We have 2x Sonos Roam for voice control and internet querying with GA. For the cinema room and all of the flat, we want to upgrade to a smart ecosystem that is future-proof and integrates with the rest of the house. If Sonos cannot provide this, we will have to look for other brands that do.

Hi. Thanks for everyone’s comments and information. Forums are still a highly valuable information asset.

I need a little clarification please. I have three Sonos devices, a ONE, ROAM (G2), & PLAY 1. After recently replacing some wifi equipment, I got everything updated and working again with Google Home Assistant (GA). I speak to the speakers for entertainment and some general knowledge, as well as some automations with other GA linked smart devices.

If I allow the upgrade to Gemini, what functionality will I lose? If I lose the current interaction, could I supplement with additional devices, change services etc.? Use Google Nest for automations. Sonos Voice for YouTube Music etc. However I am mindful that most of the “linking” occurs through the Google Home to the various registered apps.

Thank you in advance for your comments.
