I have Sonos system containing two Sonos One and one Sonos Amp

Google Assistant have worked great together with my Sonos One for the last three years. Suddently out of the blue a “Sonos TV control” apears in my Google Home App. When I ex. call Google Assistant to switch off my Sonos One, it fails, and tell me there is a error with my “Sonos TV control”.

First of all, I dont have any “Sonos TV control” installed nor any TV speaker and I don´t know where its coming from or how its suddently apears in my Google Home app. After two months of investigaing I now know its coming from my Sonos Amp.

How can i remove/disconnect to this “Sonos TV control” in my Sonos Amp to get my Google Assistant workning again?

Because the Amp is equipped with HDMI ARC that can be connected to a TV, this is probably why the Google Assistant is detecting “Sonos TV Control”.

What specific command are you using when you “switch off” your Sonos One? And what exactly do you mean by “switch off”?

Thanks for your reply

As far as I can see in my Google Assistant app, it hasn’t detected any Sonos TV control. Only my Google Home have detected it.

How can Google detect something that doesn’t exist? There is no HDMI cables plugged in my Sonos Amp nor any connection to Sonos Arc or similar. Only two speaker- and power cables are plugged in the Amp.

By “switch off” I mean “turn off”. Previous I could give my Sonos One the order “turn off” and the device turned off. Now Google Assistant replies to me and says “Sorry, I can´t understand your order because there is an error in Sonos TV control kitchen(my Sonos Amp is placed in kitchen in the Sonos system).

I hope you understand and can me solve the issue. Thanks

I have a Sonos Amp (“Backyard”) powering a pair of outdoor speakers and the Alexa app detects a “Backyard TV” even though the Amp isn’t connected to a TV. But this has no effect on my ability to control the Amp or my other Sonos devices using Amazon Alexa.

Rather than saying “turn off”, have you tried saying “stop” instead?

“Hey Google, STOP music on (room associated with Sonos One).”

Yes, it works when I say “turn-off yourself”.

The problem is that, it doesnt only relate to turn-off but also many other type of orders.

I have difficulties understand where and why Sonos TV control is suddently pop-up in my Google Home and affects the functionality of other things.

Sonos refuses to course the problem, although they have a TV control function and I think the name “Sonos TV control” says it all. Thanks to Sonos for great support

It sounds like your Sonos Amp is being mistakenly recognized as a TV control device in Google Home, which is causing conflicts with Google Assistant. Try these steps to fix it:

1- Unlink and Relink Sonos in Google Home – Go to Google Home App > Settings > Works with Google, find Sonos, and unlink it. Then, restart your devices and relink Sonos.
2- Disable TV Integration on Sonos Amp – In the Sonos App, go to Settings > System > Sonos Amp, and look for any TV-related settings. Try disabling HDMI-ARC or CEC if available.
3- Factory Reset Sonos Amp (Last Resort) – If nothing works, reset the Sonos Amp (note: this will remove all settings) and set it up again without connecting it to a TV.

Dear soniabraga00

Thank you for your answer

I have tried to unlink all Sonos units and factory reset my Sonos Amp around 10times. Somehow Sonos TV control shows up in Google Home app anyway. All kind of TV integrations in Sonos App is also turned off

@ChristianXXG If I were you, I wouldn’t waste any more time trying to make “Sonos TV Control” disappear. As long as it is not preventing you from controlling the Amp with Google Assistant, just ignore it.
