The latest Sonos App Update has removed my Google Assistant.

I have tried deleting unlinking Sonos Beam and re-adding it.   When trying to add Google Assistant to Sonos Beam, Google Assistant looks for Devices.  Most times it does not find any device, occasionally it finds the Sonos Beam and then fails to add Google Assistant!  Going round in circles!   Help please!!

The Sonos App Info is Build 80.03.06-release+20240613.b0fbafe42 (and has the latest update).

I can confirm the Google Assistant has access to my Sonos Account.

I can confirm that the Sonos Firmware is up to date.

I can confirm that both Sonos and Google Assistant are on the same Network and the Network is stable.

The Sonos Beam works with the TV and it works with third party music App and Google Assistant worked perfectly before the major Sonos App update.  I have unlinked the Sonos Beam from Google Assistant and re-linked it.  Currently get message via G Assitant that says 'No Device Found';  occasionally G Assistant finds the Sonos Beam but then says there is a problem adding GA to the Beam.

On Google Home the Sonos Beam is showing and I can control the volume on the Beam, I can Mute and Unmute, so I know Google Home is talking to the Beam but not loading Google Assistant.

I have just been on to Sonos Support; this is clearly a known problem to Sonos, I have been told…….. “At the moment the feature has not been implemented but will return in a future update.”

“The Sonos team wants to make sure that Google Assistant is implemented without issues.”

Pretty poor really!  I have tried the Sonos Assistant and it is useless.

Moderator edit: combined posts

I have a playback, a beam and 2 MOVE Speakers, using Android and GA, mainly for Spotify music and basic info.  I started noticing that GA commands changed (volume requests now need a percentage, and after pausing a song, it won't respond to "Play, Resume or anything to restart the song.  Also, sometimes when I would say "Pause" GA would say there is currently nothing playing.  So not knowing anything about this Current issue, I tried to uninstall and reinstall Sonos to Google home and GA......  Uggh.  I spent 4 hrs doing that and it was crazy.  At first one MOVE wouldn't power up, then couldn't be recognized, then GA couldn't discover it or "load"  Finally it all worked, I have operable MOVE s with GA and Spotify...but it doesn't recognize the command to restart a paused song and the "BEEP" after the "Hey Google"  command is gone. Guess I'll wait til it's fixed

Where in the app do I go to remove one of my speakers? Can't find it.

Remove it from what/where?

Remove it from what/where?

From the app. My question was referring to the suggestion made by Chris_Cologne 2 days ago in this thread.

Just following up. My GA had gone from bad to unusable, saying there was no music playing when the app clearly showed music playing.

So I removed GA from one speaker and added I back. It fixed GA for all my speakers, including the regressions I previously complained about. It seems I have full GA functionality on all my speakers again.

Damn spoke too soon. GA is still saying “nothing is playing right now” although my GA searches are fixed (like asking for recipes).

I still have a Roam which refuses to have Google Assistant added to it whatever I try.

Very annoying!

Remove it from your Sonos App and Google Assistant. Power it off for 1 day. Power it on and wait for some hours befor trying to add it again. If it doesn’t work, let it powerd on and wait about one day and try it again. This worked for me on Android with 2 Ones and 1 Roam.

Never figured out how to remove it from the app but tried powering it off for like 6-8 hours and after switching it back on, I was able to add Google Assistant to it.

So finally back with Google Assistant added to all Sonos speakers where I want that functionality 👍

Will give it a go, thanks buddy!

Did it work out?

Did it work out?

See the post just above 😉

Funny thing is I have been able to add GA back to the speakers but it's been a hit and miss adventure where I have no clue what made it work eventually. Also very odd when Sonos confirms it's not possible at this time.

This is only partly true though because I still have 2 Roam speakers where I have the same issue. The speakers where I've now managed to add GA back include one Arc and 2 Sonos One speakers.

I think I posted on this thread last week....but I lost the ability to restart a song after pausing it on GA and Spotify. So I un-installed, reinstalled not knowing of this latest issue. Luckily my wife was out of town because it took 5 hrs. but it finally reinstalled on both Move speakers.....but it's different and I don't like it!  When you say, Hey Google, it doesn't beep to let you know it heard you but it does respond. Also it won't increase/decreas volume unless you say a percentage....and it still won't restart a paused song!  I've tried" play", resume, and "unpause"  nothing works with GA.

This is a setting you need to re-enable for each speaker where you added GA. You'll find it under system settings for the speaker in question if you then tap on GA.

any news on this? I purchase this product purely based on the GA features. Does this mean we can refund our product as it is no longer working as per the descriptions I bought my speakers? This is extremely frustrating. There should be laws surrounding this kind of stuff. In my eyes I deem this product now faulty.

Any update on this Sonos? I too recently purchased my first Sonos speaker on the expectation it would work with google assistant, to then find out it doesn’t after i got it. Sort it out please!

Also what’s the deal with the android app? I cant even get the options to add a voice assistant. It just says i need to make sure its connected to wifi, which it is.

Buying something based on an expectation is never a good thing. I see you own the Era 100. Sonos did not supply the Era's with GA (here's more background to that: Sonos got rid of Google Assistant on the new Eras? : r/sonos (reddit.com). I do not see this changing in the forseeable future (though Sonos has surprised mee before).  Sonos does not mention GA in the shop for example.

Good news is that GA will still work if you ad the Era as preferred speaker to a Google Nest Mini.
