According to the 15.3 update notes..it says performance enhancements…like what? Anyone know? Forget the bug fixes as all updates state this.

The Sonos developers are not very chatty. As you noticed we usually don’t get much information.

I think some of these updates are just job security for some tech at Sonos. Like Peter Pee said..he rather see quality updates than quantity. I agree.

I seriously doubt that. I have no doubt that these changes go through some code review and testing and would not pass if they were irrelevant code changes. As well, since upgrades always bring around network issues that support has to deal with, it’s not something Sonos really likes to do. Not sure exactly how Sonos is structrured, but if the same staff is responsible for bug fixes and new dev, there’s little doubt that Sonos has plenty of new dev work to justify jobs.
I would guess that bug fixes are bugs that only a small number of users are experiencing typically, and thus it doesn’t make a lot of sense to announce the specifics of it to the rest of the world. And performance enhancements don’t necessarily mean new functionality, it can mean existing functionality performs better, perhaps also in certain circumstances.
Whether or not it would be better to do these unknown changes less frequently, I don’t know. Would I like to see more detailed release notes? I don’t know that I care.

With 30 years as a software engineer, I can tell you the exact opposite is true. Releases are a royal pain in the a**. Nobody does releases for “job security”. The very last thing a “tech” (pretty broad term to be linking to accusations of “making up work” by the way) wants to do is to go through the hassle of making a release for something trivial. In my experience, the conversation goes more like this (my example is an actual conversation from the last month):
PM/IE - “What’s this Jira XXXX?”
Me - “Oh that’s a bug found awhile ago. It’s pretty obscure, and won’t ever manifest itself in production, so I’m not really worried about it.”
PM - “We need to release this. The Kanban looks bad with this sitting in the “To Do” column!”
Me - “Whatever.”
I’ll agree with Peter Pee and his video he just released…15.3 is boring…and after I just did this unnecessary update ( for me)… here’s the after screen shots…either it updated… or it didn’t… good going Sonos ….and no I didn’t retry the update but says it updated…
