I have used my Sonos speakers with little problem (other than when used with Spotify in the past, the volume would randomly jump to max). I used to love my system. Now? Well... I left for a business trip for three weeks. When I returned, my wife’s new account wasn’t working. I called service and they did troubleshooting over the phone. This took about 45 minutes of very troublesome work. It turned out that my system crashed because it was on a mesh network (which I have had for as long as I have owned Sonos products). The new app must have been the culprit. I had to take everything down to factory settings, use a “PIN” number that was so small and useless, I could not read it with a magnifying glass. The tech even had problems seeing it with my phone magnification. I don’t remember using this “PIN” number when I set it up. I had to disable my TP Link mesh network, rename my extenders. Another 25 minutes of wasted time. Terrible. Now I have to manually switch wifi networks between areas of my house to get the bandwidth. I will not put up with this nonsense configuration for too long. I am already looking into bluetooth only systems like Bluesound. If Sonos comes up with a fix, please notify ALL of your users by email. If not, I’m done with this system. The new app is crap. And if I have to re-configure my system again, I will just sell these speakers as bookends
It turned out that my system crashed because it was on a mesh network
Do you know if your TP Link network had an update? Do you have auto updates enabled?
Do you have auto updates enabled in the Sonos app?
I had to disable my TP Link mesh network, rename my extenders.
This statement confuses me because if the mest system is setup correctly there should be no need to reconfigure it. Sonos does not recommend using extenders..
Do you have a managed switch within your network with a Sonos device hardwired to it?
Do you still have a Bridge or Boost connected?
If your Sonos is wirelessly connected, I see no reason it would crash your network.
Now I have to manually switch wifi networks between areas of my house to get the bandwidth
This still all points to an issue with your mesh system. I would recommend powering off all your Sonos speakers and doing a factory reset on the mesh system. Then set it up again as new. Use the same SSID an password as before. Do not createThen one by one power on a speaker, checking your network each time.
