I noticed this morning that Sonos had released a new update to the app but decided I would read through the release notes prior to installing since the last update burned us all.  What I found truly amusing was that the provided this note when addressing local library connectivity -

  • Improved local library connectivity

Are we to imply that they “fixed” what they broke? Or are they simply trying to play semantics and not admit they screwed up?

All I get is “something went wrong” when trying to add a song or album to end of queue. I’ve tried resetting app, restarting phone etc. I can only say that it figures.

Album art is gone as well, but the queue is major compared to that.

Let’s be frank - this new update has turned an ok app (on my iPhone this is) in to something that is utterly rubbish. You have to wonder if they did ANY testing with real users?

  • I have radio stations that won’t play anymore - I just get ‘something went wrong - check your internet connection’
  • Radio icons that are blank
  • its impossible as far as I can see to edit the order of your ‘favourites’ now
  • I have three systems in different rooms and it constantly gets confused when I try and switch between them. Playing in the wrong room, playing the wrong thing. Leaving a room playing that I think I have turned off.

I am so fed up with them I have resorted to just using airplay to play music, radio and podcasts. Its far more reliable.

The lack of acceptance by Sonos of how seriously they’ve got this wrong is astonishing
