Not sure why I didn’t think of this last year, when my Playbase developed the known fault of not being able to connect to WiFi, but today, I moved my upstairs black BT disc (which is paired with my BT Smart HUB 2) to within ethernet cable distance of my bedroom Playbase and plugged the Playbase into the single ethernet port on the back. And hey presto! It’s back on my Sonos system! I had been just using it as my telly speaker without being able to see it or control it in the Sonos App. Now it is back!

I will keep an eye on it in the App to make sure it carries on behaving itself but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

It’s nice to know that using these discs which only work with the BT Smart Hub 2, can accept a Sonos device plugged into the ethernet port on the back.

A useful tip and workaround for others experiencing failed wifi cards in their speakers. 👍

Indeed although you have to live in the UK and use a BT Smart HUB router of course 😊

But as a fix, it should work with other routers and mesh kit too. Or, dare I say it, powerline adapters or suchlike.
