Insofar as ways to move forward, might we be able to get a little team of lawyers together to pressure the board to respond to our concerns?

They told us we need to upgrade our equipment because legacy products will not get updates and now we get updates that are destroying listening experience that’s criminal
So now “destroying listening experience” is criminal? Can you cite the statute on that?
Not an attorney. Bad business practice telling me to upgrade spending more money on their products then making the app worse with the updates they claimed was so important!!!
Why is everyone carrying on like this is the app in its permanent state? What part of ongoing updates do people not understand?

So that would be no, it's not criminal. Gotcha.

How long have you worked for Sonos??

Ah, there it is. The stock response of someone who has found that someone has the temerity to disagree with them.
Not a software engineer either but I know not to take away features in a application

So upgrade to app are positive???
How long have you worked for Sonos??
I don't. But even if I did, how would that change the fact that you called something criminal when it's anything but?

Ok you win!! I get it the world wants to sue everyone and apparently that’s an issue for you but me continuing this conversation doesn’t change my app Have a good day
Sonos has failed me Following instructions to update app I lost my library and other services. Adding insult to injury wasting hours via waiting for incompetents only to spend hours talking and chatting to a boiler room I WILL GLADLY JOIN A CLASS ACTION SUIT ! Shame on Sonos! I was a big fan no longer will I recommend such a poor excuse of a company OUTRAGEOUS

Not an an attorney but Scams are against the law I believe !!!
What’s the point of all the “I’ll join” posts if nobody is going to launch this lawsuit? We can all argue its merits and if it will succeed or fail, but as a discussion it is a long-hollowed out threat if nobody is actually going to do it. It’s pointless.

I did buy a product that provides a certain feature set. Now Sonos has removed many of those features. Why they did it, is no concern of mine. It does no longer work as advertised and documented. Remotely forcing consumers to devalue their previous purchases feels like fraud.
I do not care if it is only temporary, which is actually hearsay until things work as before. If they ever will.

I’m still pissed from losing Home Screen control from last year!! I would like that back too!!!!!!!!!! Am I the only one upset by that!?!?!

Let me guess, you didn’t read the EULA you agreed to when you first registered the software. Let me give you just this:
SONOS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PRODUCT WILL OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR WILL BE ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ALL ERRORS AND OR DEFECTS MAY BE CORRECTED; THAT THE FUNCTIONS, FEATURES, OR SERVICES PERFORMED OR PROVIDED BY, INCLUDING THIRD PARTY FEATURES AND SERVICES, CONTAINED IN THE PRODUCT SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; THAT ANY FEATURES, FUNCTIONS OR SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO BE MADE AVAILABLE; THAT THE PRODUCT SOFTWARE WILL BE COMPATIBLE OR WORK WITH ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS OR THIRD PARTY SERVICES.
Which is standard for almost all software sold. Good luck with that lawsuit!

That was Apple’s doing. Apple rules prevent using lock screen or hard button controls to control 3rd party hardware. Apple demanded Sonos stop using the hack they had in place to skirt that rule, and threatened to take the app down from the App Store if Sonos didn’t comply.

Uhhhh, OK.

App continues to get worse so yes I don’t have to buy their products anymore. You have all the facts and I am uniformed so I apologize for upsetting you but my right as a consumer is to not purchase their products

You didn’t upset me. I’m just curious as to what makes people punish one corporation for the actions of another. It makes no logical sense, but I believe the reactions to this app fiasco left logical in the dust a while ago.

From your profile it appears you haven’t purchased a Sonos product in quite sometime; maybe with the exception of the Amp. However, the Amp was released in 2019 so that purchase could be 5 years ago. That said you haven’t been exactly “fattening” the Sonos coffers of late.
I don’t know how old you are but from what you have said is that every company you’ve dealt with (Sonos being the exception) has never made changes, discontinued a product and/or support for that product . If that’s true then you are in a bracket that can’t be defined in terms of percentages.
BTW...Sonos still supports your Play 5-gen1 (released 15 years ago in 2009) in terms of it still being able to play music as part of an S1 system. Hmmm...just applying a bit of logic as previously mentioned by

Well not sure why you are in this community chat wether to educate or just bust balls but obviously you are well educated on the matter so I do have a technical question for you because I don’t know anything about this subject but why does apple let a music service Spotify use Home Screen but not Sonos ?

If I may….There is an integration process called an API (Application Programing Interface) that allows a 3rd party in simple terms to “plug-in” so to speak to another company’s application. The API for Spotify is just a streaming service as opposed to the API for Sonos that is used to control speakers across a platform. Each API is negotiated differently between companies and the host (Apple) decides as to what degree the 3rd party’s service will be allowed and where. The Sonos app itself is still approved/allowed in iOS but no longer accessible from the iOS Lock Screen. That’s an Apple decision so you’ll have to contact Apple to obtain the reason as to “why not”. Good luck with that

I assume you mean the ‘lock screen’… If so, that’s fairly easy to answer - Spotify is a music ‘player’ App where the audio being played, passes through the Apple device. The Sonos App is not a ‘player’, it’s a ‘controller’. The audio is played direct from source to the Sonos speaker without the need for it to pass through the Apple device. In fact once the music has begun playback from the Sonos App, you could actually power off the Apple device and the audio playback will continue on the speaker. That’s not the case with Spotify. If you AirPlay to a speaker, for example, and close the Spotify App the music will immediately stop.
Apple allows their lock screen controls to be used when the audio passes though their own products only and so it’s a restriction that Apple imposes.

Because the Spotify app is a media player that plays the music through the app. Sonos’ app is a controller, which sends commands to the Sonos hardware, which then fetches and plays the stream. You can see the difference by playing a track on each and then turning off the phone. Sonos keeps playing, Spotify will not.
Apple only allows the side buttons and lock screen to control media playing from/through the phone. Sonos got around this with a hack that played a silent track in the background, fooling iOS into thinking the app was a media player, allowing the use of the buttons and lock screen, which Sonos then hijacked to send commands to the Sonos devices. Apple found the hack and gave them a cease and desist order or they were going to pull the Sonos app from the app store.
